Well I got my M3 lip spoiler yesterday, Saturday, 4/17...
Sorry to say but I will NOT be ordering from JLevi again. They seem to be a very nice crew, but there lack of making sure my product was PERFECT before shipping it to me after ALL the run around and waiting and nonsense that I went thru, does not go over well with me personally. Those of you who had a good experience, by all means continue business with them. I am not here to try to take business AWAY, but I am here to share my experience and thoughts, since this IS a review thread. I've posted all I have needed to in my previous posts. For now I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking... I now have to go get this paint STRIPPED, and RE-PAINTED the RIGHT way... I can not believe after all this, I got a SHITTY paint job with SCRATCHES and CHIPS all over my damn f*ckin spoiler... I AM PISSED. |

Sorry to hear the problems. I think anyone would be frustrated paying extra, then waiting a month for a flawed product.
I'd just contact Jlevi, get it returned, get your full $ back (including shipping) and find another vendor (I'm sure there are other options). |

I'm sorry to hear how the finish turned out, seems like it was damaged during shipping. We don't normally do matte finishes but we made a custom order at your request. I'm sorry it came out like that but without clearcoat to protect the paint it can get damaged rather easily because bare matte paint is soft and unprotected.
We'll be glad to repaint it for you any other regular gloss color (shipping costs will be taken care of) or reimburse you for the cost of paint. Or you can return it for a full refund. Or...we can refund you 50% on the cost of the spoiler, and you can keep it as well. As a fellow enthusiast, I can see where you're coming from. Let us have the chance to make this right. Stepping up or not on the part of JLevi ............ I'd definitely send this obviously flawed product back, get my FULL refund and look elsewhere for the product you want.
Carl/Nick - There are so many precautions that can be taken when shipping a painted product ........ the seller just needs to use any & all means available to them to ensure a competent product is released to the customer. To say that the damage was caused during shipment is weak. Had the product been packaged properly, at the very least inspected & packaged properly, do you still believe the damage would have been inflicted? 9 times out of 10 ...... the answer would be no. I know you tend to use FedEx. It's too easy for companies/vendors to say one thing & not truly deliver. You & Nick can use all the right words to make the customer feel the level of comfort he/she needs, however at the end of the day it comes down to your commitment to the customer ...... or lack thereof. If you actually have someone within your company overseeing the paint then how is it that this painted product is so flawed. Had I been in the position of the vendor with all of this information being posted to present/future buyers ...... I would have taken GREAT LENGTHS to cover my ass & deliver the positive reputation so many have commented on. I have purchased all sorts of items from you over the past 2.5 years & have dealt with both positive & negatives with regard to your shipping methods and/or product availability. I still come back to you because I believe you mean well & I trust your opinions regarding different products I inquire about. The paint explanation is ridiculous and nothing more than shifting blame to someone else .......... if the paint were still damp from the paint shop then your argument would be better, but this really comes down to poor quality control on your part (or whomever you have overseeing the paint department/quality). The scratches shown on the spoiler would have been prevented had the piece received the proper packaging. |

This is the reason why we've never offered Matte finishes to customers, ever.
This was done as a concession to please the customer - but I assure you, it will not be offered again. Matte paint just isn't durable. It's too susceptible to scratches from the SILLIEST things, like cardboard in a packing box, and then when it's scratched, you can't just color sand it to make it better. Also, I think we have the shipping painted items thing down, we ship over 30 painted items on the average day, and if we were screwing the pooch, this forum would be overpopulated with complaints about our packaging! Anyways, I am sure my colleagues Nick and Cal will be making it right with this customer, but, moving forward.. we will not offer Matte paint finishes. There's a reason BMW took 7 years to perfect Frozen Grey for public offering, and our part time painter can't be expected to nail it with Matte finishes. The fact that he had to respray it 3 times and STILL couldn't get it right should be an indication of that. To the OP, rest assured, our sales Manager (Nick) is involved and I am confident that a satisfactory resolution is on it's way. |

I agree the product was definitely NOT damaged during shipping. I believe somehow it was before it went out because it WAS packed/wrapped up VERY good. I probably could have threw it against the wall and not damaged it. Which is a good thing because they DO pack their products very well. Even if there were no scratches, there's still no excuse for the big drip mark and uneven paint on the corner. That's just poor painting. And not for nothing Cal emailed me saying "shop messed up and sprayed it gloss black, they have to repaint it". Ok that was ONE spray. Then You guys stated in earlier posts it had to be sprayed twice. Which I was never told but ok... Now in ur last post your saying THREE times??? WTF come on man by the end of this thread my spoiler is gonna be sprayed 8 times...
I also automatically assumed it would have clear coat, which I guess is my own fault. But I just thought everybody knew Matte should be clear coated.. Anyway to update, I took the 50% refund and kept the spoiler. That money is going towards getting it finished the right way. I didn't want a full refund and order somewhere else because I waited long enough, and the product itself is definitely great quality. In the end, I still may order things from them because I too see dedicated service and see they did their best to help me out in the end of this mess. Which means to me that they seem like a pretty fair group of guys... |

Thanks for your understanding, and your faith in us. I'm not sure if it was 2 or 3. I normally don't step into retail matters unless I feel it needs my attention. I'm a less credible source of order-specific info than Cal or Nick are. Anyways, We've taken down all "Matte" offerings on our site and won't be offering it again. It's just not worth it. As for the expediting issue, we are in a ridiculous period of growth, and it's no excuse for a slip in service. If anything, our growth and success should (and will) lead to even BETTER service: -We have hired a full time programmer who is developing more advanced systems to manage the overflow of orders we've seen in the last 2 months.....but in the meantime... -We've also hired 2 new people at our Santa Clara location to help us maintain quality service during the transition period. Combined with the hires earlier this year, this means we're operating at around 3 times the size we were just 6 months ago. Growing pains. It is a good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless. I'm sorry that we disappointed you, but very glad that we'll have an opportunity to impress you next time! Thanks! JL |

excuse my ignorance, but aren't many car dashboard, interior, and many plastic toys painted with matte paint??
so why do those seem to hold up so well? speaking of which, this Dell OEM mouse and Dell OEM keyboard that which I'm typing on appears to be a very matte black finish... there is no clear coat of any kind. But what I do notice on them is that over time (a period of 2 years), the grease from my fingers begin to wear-through them, making them a very shiny |

LOL Alpine3 not to worry, as far as I know, the kidney grilles are NOT painted, but they are MADE of a Matte plastic. So u should be ok there.
And nukezero, I don't think those things are painted. I'm sure the color is incorporated somehow within the products itself, GIVING it a matte finish/look. |

FYI- that Dell mouse of yours is produced from matte black plastic, it is not painted. Same with the interior parts, they are all cast from matte plastic which is much more resilient to paint. This is also why I suggest matte black grills over painted as they will not show specs with rock chips. |
