Activating 6NR (ConnectedDrive) on 2011 E92 LCI

Sorry for digging up an old thread. Can anyone confirm if Spotify app still works when ConnectedDrive is activated? I just went through the process of activating it but when i connect my iphone it says i have to open the BMW app that isnt anymore available.

In some thread i understood that the Spotify app works independently from the BMW app. Now i'm not very sure anymore. So if anyone could let me know if this is supposed to work with latest ios or has it been disabled?
