It is so sad that it has to go to a giant media to get this going!
Finally thanks ABC!!!! They should have ask BMW why did they not fix it for the N55! Another story?

Yea, coincidental but may be unfortunate timing on my case if this is the case. If it is not already determined, I will push for an inspection tomorrow, and if they tell me they don't know what the inspection is I will push for a pressure test. Luckily I've yet to had a bad experience there so hopefully my good service continues

No fix. I don't anticipate that there will ever be one. I have long speculated that this is a significant design flaw with many contributing factors (I still contend that poor fuel on both coasts is a major contributing external factor - and yes, we do get this issue in the midwest but it does not seem as common) that short of a complete system redesign and replacement will always be an issue.

i watched the abc news this morning and looking at tom baloga, i see the guilt on his face from being busted by the media, just like toyota, they wait till the last minute to recall cars.

I wonder if this affects the 2011 335is. Since it still has the N54 but the recall is only on 07-10 335s. Does the 2011 335is have the same pump and software as the 2010 335i?

It seems it is explicitly excluded due to model year. I expect it has different software as it has 20 more hp/tq from the older N54s. Failure rate of 11 N54s and N55 is inconclusive since they haven't been out for very long, but they all have the same pump

Based on the individual service history of the vehicle, the action will entail replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump and/or a software update. Approximately 130,000 vehicles are potentially affected, with about 40,000 expected to require a new high-pressure fuel pump. Affected BMW models include: 2007–2010 335i models. 2008–2010 135i, 535i, and X6 xDrive35i Sports Activity coupes 2009–2010 Z4 sDrive35i In a separate action, BMW has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will voluntarily recall approximately 20,800 2008 X5s Vehicles equipped with normally-aspirated inline six-cylinder engines to replace the low-pressure fuel pump. In this case, should the fuel pump experience a failure, the engine will stop running, and the driver will lose power assist for the steering and brakes, although both the steering and the brakes remain operational. Letters will be sent by first-class mail to owners of affected vehicles in the coming weeks, requesting the scheduling of a service appointment with an authorized BMW Center to have the update performed. No injuries have been reported with either of these issues. In the case of either issue, if customers experience a problem, they should contact their authorized BMW Center. Recall HPFP question?
So back in June 2010, I purchased my 2007 CPO E90 with ~46k miles. The day after I brought it home, it started having the infamous long cranks. Unknown to me (when I bought the car the day before) the salesman failed to tell me that the previous owner had replaced the HPFP 2x before me. Ofcourse, those HPFP were the previous models. Regardless of that, I took my car back to the dealer the next day and they replaced the low pressure fuel pump, and the #933 Model "remanufactered" HPFP. In August I took the car back to dealer for another issue and they also updated the ECU to the new software fix (primes the pump before starting). Thus I should be up-to-date. Every now and then though, I get some long cranks after the car has been sitting. However, this is intermittant. Nothing like before. Thus, after hearing about the recall notice today, I was wondering, since my invoice back in June indicates that the pump installed is the #933 "remanufactered" one, should I take it my BMW SA and ask him to install a "NEW" #933 HPFP, instead of the "remanufactered" one? Or, are all of the "NEW" 933 HPFP really just "remanufactered" 943 models? Thoughts?

That's good news I guess.
I bought my 2010 at the end of last year, and at 7500 miles it hasn't had any issues whatsoever. I'm afraid that if I take it in for the recall, it will start screwing up after I get it back.
