Must be a limitation of the South African version of the NAV software.

Oddly enough I can choose any country besides South Africa using a voice command.

Is it the Business Nav or Pro you have RustyR?
Perhaps that is causing the problem.

Your South African software must be different. Since I had the CIP20 & mp3 retrofit this week, I've been able to choose which parts of the destination address I want to enter by voice.

I rekon you spot on.

Question? Are you able to use a voice command from the address book menu or the destination list window? i.e. from the address book choose home address ?

Just tried that. No.
there doesn't seem to be any voice entry options to select destinations from either the address book menu or destination list. Only manual selection is possible. Perhaps that will appear in the next update?!

Voice Recognition for Dialing Extra Digits

Once a phone conversation is established via blue tooth (say with a voice mail system) is there a way to use voice recognition to dial the extra digits to login and control the voice mail system. Using the iDrive "keypad" while driving is just a tad bit annoying; and I can't seem to use the keypad on my phone.

By the way, my phone is a Verizon Treo 650 which rebooted anytime it was near my car until I turned off the dialing extra digits option on the phone

iDrive-E90 and anyone else, how do you find these completely undocumented voice commands?

Also, what is scrollable map mode, and how do you enable it?

Thanks!

They are documented in your owner's manual. I put this together:

I have 6/2/2005 production car.
CIP 20 has fixed my voice entry of addresses.
I can now say State, City, Street & number of building.
All works flawless now with my car. Especially MP3's.

When you can't remember the command you need, simply say "Options" and the guy will rattle off the commands for the currently selected function, i.e., in entertainment he'll limit his repertoire to those commands for entertainment and skips anything for navigation and the like.

Does anyone know if there is a comman that will take you directly to the Traffic Info? I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. How did they forget to add this? They have voice commands for some pretty obscure things but then the one that is most likely to be used every morning I get in my car seems to be the hardest one to get to...

In my german manual we have a command called "verkehrsinfo" to get to that one. I would suspect the US cars would have the same? Have you tried looking in the latest (online) version of the manual to see if there is a command in there or maybe it's just something plain and simple like "traffic information"?

Thanks Raayman. I've tried just about every combination known to man (although not verkehrsinfo ) to no avail.

I'll keep trying. Just out of curiousity (and I'm 99% sure this won't work) I'll try the German word...

POI Icons on/off

Saying "options" in the map window gives some commands left out of the manual and this Sticky.

"info on screen" displays the POI icons, equivalent to selecting the "i" on the vertical menu bar.

That's a good one to know... do you use that command as a toggle to turn the POI icons on and off or do you have to say "info off screen" to get them off?

btw - I still have yet to find a voice command for traffic info. I tried the German phrase but I'm sure I butchered it beyond recognition so maybe it works but I'm just not capable of pronouncing it properly.
