Can you explain the difference or advantage of a flash versus a piggyback and vica-versa? Doesn't one (Piggyback) trick the the OEM ECU program into allowing more boost while the other (Flash) is a complete remapping of the ECU and all of it's functions? I'm a novice at this but I bought the Dinan Stage 2 for warranty coverage.

I know you listed the advantages of removing the piggyback before taking the car in for service but I wanted to know if there were any advantages on engine wear.

And I really like the Dinan flash and hope to get all the other overpriced items that help with the Stage 2 flash; exhaust, air box, intercooler, etc... now all I have to do is hit the lottery.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I wrote this up to help most guys coming into the tuning world. I too was in the same place as some of you in which tune to get. Pretty much most of this information is in the treads and most of the facts were answered from the tuners themselves. Props go out to Shiv & Terry for helping me straighten out most of the facts. I’ll be definite be working on improving the chart so as most of you have notice, this would be the 1 stop chart to look at to help you decide on what tune to get before you start refining your searches further throughout the forum. I’m glad this also stops a lot of unwanted threads regarding comparisons in tunes.

Great professional table. I've always been a great Dinan apologist( I have mad love for their Signature package S2 with all the works, I was ready to put 15k down for that package). Not sure any more, I'm liking the Procede 4 along with DCI and etc. I"ll be doing BMW Power Pack and BMW performance mods in next couple months cause of the warranty.
Not trusting the Dinan warranty. plus the car would be red flaged by BMW. No more extended warranty.

I just joined this forum a few days ago and I must say, as a new BMW owner, that this was a huge help and came just in time. Thanks so much! This saved me from sifting through a ton of the same threads with only partial info on each
