Thanks for the update. Look forward to see your results.

It looks like you got the new turbo just in time as the stock turbo was not very healthy.

Following.

I'm in the exact same boat/mods as you and weighing whether to plunk down for this turbo given I am sticking with the TU pump. . I also want to know what additional power ethanol blends will permit. I am at e35 on the MHD stage 2+ and close to 470 wheel there.

I know you can't share logs, but are you getting over 500 wheel yet? For me it's not worth it unless we can get into the low 500s.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as u and after I've done it (keep in mind I've already gone thru some tune revisions with the turbo installed). Most definitely worth it. I will say immediately, if your on the p255s that's the first thing u notice. I cannot floor it under 45-50 without losing serious traction. Was going to ask Kern if it's a must to get lowered in order to fit 275s on the back? I'm definitely getting atleast p265s in back. Back to subject, trust me it's worth it especially when u get the turbo tuned. I was pushing about same power as u and the difference where I am now to where I was then is night and day. I want to line up with Z06s hellcats to see if I can pull them. Maybe I'm crazy but it honestly feels that fast. Definitely feels deep in the 500s and I'm only 93 and have more tune revisions 😁. You would not be disappointed in the sound or the power. The shit is legit!

Greatly appreciate your quick reply. I spent “some” time searching the forums as others are taking about 515-530 whp with just 93 ad the TU pump so that’s damn promising. I am talking with Wedge about what they think as they are gonna know more than most. Looks like I may need to take this plunge.

I’ve not done it but it looks easy - the most work appears to be the DP area since you need to get the car in the air, but DPs many of us have already done at least once on b58. obviously you’re looking to disconnect the pipe from the turbo.

Other than that - get the airbox out, get the intake pipes off (plus all the vent and crankcase hoses) and get the chargepipe off. Then you get the manifold heat shield off, disconnect the wastegate connector, remove the brackets holding the turbo to the manifold, and that’s it, you can then slide the turbo assembly away from the block and out. I think you do need to be a little careful with the coolant and oil lines (memorize the connections and cap them - you don’t want dust or dirt in there). Many people recommend draining the coolant too. This is easy, just loosen the caps under the hood then go under the drivers side and remove the clip on the hard line and drain it.

I recall seeing a yellow oil drain plug on the side of the engine which is visible once you have the turbo off, when I took things apart a while ago. This likely means it’ll be easy to drain the oil too, should you wish to do that.

All in all this looks to me like a 1/2 day job max. Maybe a full day if you’ve never done your DP before and also decide to drain your fluids.

It was a weekend job for me and a buddy (Pure800, not VTT). About 6 hours out on Saturday, 6 hours in on Sunday.
But I'm also a terrible mechanic lol.
Expect to run into some issues with the coolant and oil lines. Even after they're loosened, they don't want to come out, so you have to leverage them out. If you have a couple different size small pry bars and cushion the line with a rag, that helps. Getting the exhaust, and downpipe and turbo to all mate up correctly and have all the exhaust brackets lineup with the bolt holes was a challenge, had to take it all apart and try again after fussing with it for a half hour. There are some fasteners you'll run into that you can't really see very well from underneath but can't reach from the top, and vice versa. Having a buddy to assist is pretty helpful with those. We ended up doing a lot of the work with me under the car and him on the hood side of the project.
Good luck!

Other than the lines, sounds like mainly dp related yeah, that part IS annoying. My goto trick on any dp related work when it comes to alignment is to loosen the backbox from the rear on both sides and use the two tips as leverage to slide things in and out of your turbo hole. This works if you keep the mid connected and for just a turbo upgrade you don’t need to loosen the other side of your dp. After removing the dp brackets and clamp, put some thick towels under the dp and pull from the exhaust tips and just let the pipe fall. Then on the way back in, the turbo has these metal studs to ensure it’s seated properly on the manifold/block. So do that and tighten it down, then your only real issue is getting the dp realigned as you noted. For that lift the pipe into the turbo and then align it using the exhaust.

You may need to raise the car and lower and raise again since you’re working on the turbo, that is annoying too.

I see on the Dragy leaderboard for June that a B58 M140iX in Portugal has recorded a 6.08 second 100 - 200 km/h using the VTT GC, down pipe, Dorch HPFP and E70. Wow!

GC+ - Built motor car wanted

Looking for a built motor B58 that is willing to help run the GC+. We will have our sample Monday, we are hopeful to find someone local, but we are willing to possibly ship if we can find a prime candidate.

Will the GC+ version require a core exchange, and when will they be out in the market. Thanks
