Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs but if anyone is bothered about it and wants to work it out, then we can all do it using the same method (below) for a truly representative data set.

I set my trip recorder to zero when I fill up. When I fill up again I note the mileage since last fill up, and divide the number of litres of fuel put into the car by 4.546 (the number of litres in a gallon according to a converter website) to convert the fuel put in into gallons. I then simply divide the distance on the trip recorder by the gallons.
Normally it's recommeded to do a brim to brim calculation rather than rely on the OBC. This is what I do (Excel spreadsheet - to calculate my fuel card costs). I've found the OBC to be slightly positive with its figures.

You would fill up till the pump clicks then drive around and then fill up again when pump clicks. Calculate the mpg as you have described.

sorry but.....It doesnt supprise me!!
Did u have the upgrade to version 28?...cos that wont fix it as BMW already know!!...theyr putting their faith in V29 due out in Mrch i now hear

as my last conversation with the local dealer they told me ...they know theres a problem with the engine management trying to decide to put fuel in or not at the low revs giving the misfires and also maybe the rev up at stand still

this will be 6 months for me...time for them to put their money where their mouth is me thinks...

ill let everyone know as soon as i do

E92 320i or 325i SE Coupe - engine probs with 320i??

Hello all

New to Forum, but I shall be replacing my 2004 525d SE July/August and I'm currently considering ordering either a new E92 320i M Sport Coupe or a 325i SE Coupe - both will cost in the region of £31,500 to my spec.

Each car has its merits e.g. performance, fuel consumption, CO2 tax, spec and cost etc. Diesel is a false economy for me now as I do not do the mileage to warrant the extra cost on model type and fuel, although the mid-range of the 525d is awesome!!

However, I have read on this thread that there are a number of issues with the E92 320i engine and there's one thread even calling for owners to email their problems which will be presented BMW GB.

Can anyone please advise me what these issues are to save me buying a lemon and what you might choose given my choice?

Thanks in advance
Adey

I would suggest that you steer clear of the 320 for the time being, mines still in being looked at for the 6th time.

Just had a call from the dealer saying that all is well, its been run out yesterday and today its been out twice and they will drop it off after they have cleaned it. Followed by a long discussion to the point that they had replaced all the injectors and coils again, and they were sending them back to BMW uk for inspection.
BMW technical have been hooked up to the car, and they have given it the all clear, and as he is talking the service manager has parked it back in the garage.
My guy asks me to hold, and then basically comes back to say that he can see the service manager and hes giving him the thumbs down

Waiting to hear from them now...

This really is 'p**s ppor', Chris.

I'm sure Tony is currently doing his best to sort something out with Jim O'Donnell (BMW UK's current MD, soon to become President of BMW NA), or Klaus Kibsgaard, who takes over the role from April.

All the best.

Indeed....not impressed.....not a good way to reward my loyalty...

Just been called by Enterprise to be told that they "hope" to get me a Focus or Astra by 11.30.........and thats after the booking was marked asap by BMW Assistance - so today looks like a write off...

10am - Enterprise have just found me a Chrysler Voyager.....!!!!!! Oh well, kids will like it!!
