So much interest so far, we need to let Vorsteiner design the hood first!

Nick, came out of my office tonight and my car was plastered with snow. THIS is where the front center reverse scoop vent needs to go! Keep in mind, this was HOURS after I had driven the car and it was a short slow trip. There is some serious heat concentrated right here!

What a riot! I saw this pic in the pics forum and thought your hood was already scooped.

Crazy!

Our design will take this into account.

The design team is already working hard on this.

thanks

I can't believe you guys are basing your design off of where snow melts on the hood. Of course snow is going to melt on the hood directly above the radiator, this has nothing to do with the best place to put a vent to get the radiator heated air to leave the engine bay while moving.

is it possible to make this design available for the E90 sedan? particularly the 328i?

Vorsteiner has a vented race hood for the sedan I am not sure if they have plans to revise it at all, so far it has been very successful.

Well right I agree but that shows you exactly were the source is. The opening of the scoop could be directly over it and extend towards the back of the car a bit.

They are busy working away on several projects, no updates as of yet but I know they are actively developing it.

Just viewed the artistic rendering - I miscommunicated the center vent style to Vorsteiner, so they are changing it around a bit and will send me a new sketch shortly.

Currently, the vent looks a lot like this one:

I am having them change it so that the hole hides behind the U shaped cutout.

I assume this is what people wanted to see!

Wow. Yes. That is what I want. I'd send you a deposit right now if it was possible. Beautiful.

Great job Jlevi!

I would make the side vents just a little bit wider - One inch per vent. Just what the doctor ordered. Do you have an established price yet for the product?

Will the hood come with shocks to support it open or will it use the OEM shocks that come with the regular hood?

You will use 1 OEM shock, or E46 M3 hood shocks

I have been lurking for a long time on this board and that hood is definitely euro rice. I don't care what kind of function it gives but it is definitely disgusting, I am happy if I see the two vents on the side as that still is still on par with the lines of the car.

This is something I would see on a Subaru STI or EVO VIII. Keep the Seibon ideas off Vorsteiner...Vorsteiner shouldn't make this hood at all. Vorsteiner has built a reputation on class and respect, this definitely makes it RICE!!!

Everything I see from Vorsteiner, I give much respect but this...it is definitely a let down for me. I know I won't be on the list for this, I rather have them make a hood with no vents in CF and I would be happier with that.

They already have a CF powerdome hood. If you don't like the vented hood, that's fine! A lot of people love it, and the center vent will be fairly subtle... it's for function, so it won't need to be huge.

Thanks
JL
