Pic 3 looks like some of the ports have been cleaned. Pic 1 definitely still has CBU in some places. 3rd from bottom round intake runner is well loaded.

Well, I couldn't believe it - got the call yesterday that the car was ready to be picked up. Earlier in the day they had just shot us some pics of the cleaned parts so I was surprised that it was put back together and ready to go. My service writer was gone when I arrived so i decided to check out some cars - a nice 2014 750Li, loaded, about 14miles for 83K and a M6, new, loaded for 120K. Get in the car(walking to the front of the car and to the driver's side) and drive off. The car still idles rough and a little jerky taking off. I get home, walk inside to get the wife for dinner and let her drive to see if she can notice the rough idling, etc. - the a/c is now making a noise when turning off and the car smells like an oil spill(hopefully that will burn off?). Then, when I was walking around the back of the car to get in, I was unpleasantly surprised with the below bumper damage. So now, I call the dealer and everyone is gone for the day. I snapped a few pics and emailed them to my service writer who emailed me back early this am. admitting that the car was not like that when I dropped it off. I was back at the dealer early this am and left the car to sort out the damage and the rough idling.
The service writer did show me this morning the vehicle inspection notation that was done after we dropped the car off for repairs and there is an "x" mark on the rear bumper. As it was late in the afternoon, around quitting time, I do not remember them even looking at the car when it was dropped off - we were not even expected until the next am. I just remember signing the paperwork to authorize the repairs. In looking at the damage this am with the writer, I asked him what the "x" was for on the report as neither he nor I could see any, I mean any marks even close as to where the report indicated. He admitted that he didn't know as there were no marks even close to where he noted on the report. I have to say, he was apologetic and provided a loaner and promised to repair the damage and check out the other issues. Even though it's been a pain, BMW NA has been helpful as well as the dealer even though the service manager did not reply to any of my emails - he had the writer do it. BMWNA or the dealer - not sure who - picked up the cost of the walnut blasting - I noticed a 1200.00 total on their paperwork. Just a reminder - and I usually try to do this, but forgot this time - MAKE SURE TO DO A WALK AROUND WITH THE WRITER WHILE DROPPING OFF AND BE SURE TO CHECK CAR BEFORE LEAVING THE DEALER......

Sounds like they haven't done the injector reprogramming. Don't let them just start replacing parts on your dime unless or until they have performed the programming correctly. If its not going to cost you anything I guess let them go for it, you might get 6 free new injectors

SI B13-04-14 I posted this up on another site's diesel forum but figured I'd post it up here as well. SUBJECT M57Y Diesel Fuel Injector: Zero Mass Adaption Faults MODEL E90 (3 Series Sedan 335d) With M57Y engine I've searched edmunds and automd.com and can't find any SIB's more recent than the june 2014 connection issue. Hell automd say no sib's at all. by chance do you have the no. and where I can look it up?

Yeah. Got it. Here's the reply from the service writer. He said they did this when the car went back after the cleaning before replacing the injector....

Gotcha. Well, they ended up replacing two of my injectors after reflashing the DDE per the SIB (BMW NA stepped in and picked up 90% of the cost).

I got a zero-mass adaption injector cylinder #6 code two days ago after 52k miles and the dealership told me yesterday that my extended warranty is covering the CBU cleaning as the intake was supposedly caked with CBU.
I actually wasn't happy to hear that because I just sent $800 less than two months ago for Offset Motorwerks to do a CBU cleaning. They even provided me with before and after pics. This is going to get interesting...

Hey guys, what has your BMW dealer charged you to perform this (SI B13-04-14) on your vehicle? The local dealerships in Seattle are infamous for charging more than just about anywhere esle.
I've been searching and Googling to no luck. |

Here in Jacksonville FL, they want $2500. Apparently there was an updated sib that called for the removal of the VC, which they claim added 4 hours to the job.

Anyone ever find an actual fix for this?
I just bought a 2010 335d with 52k miles. Day 2 of ownership SES. My shop ran diags: 4592 #4 smooth running controller 4593 #2 smooth running controller 4AE6 DDE Zero Quantity adaptation cyl 2 injector They aren't a BMW specialist and he doesn't seem sure but says it's # 2 injector but he'd recommend change all 6. I started pulling it apart considering swapping an injector myself, but with the likelihood of needing CBU and coding injector, I'm feeling I may be in over my head. |

Take your intake manifold off, its very easy and you will be able to see how bad your CBU is. Judging by your low miles, indicating short trips, I would guess its quite bad and should be dealt with before replacing injectors
