It's for the X6, it's not in the 135.

Seems like a number of "first drives" have also been either mistaken on whether the 135i has an electronically-locking diff or not, perhaps BMW decided to nix it to keep the price "down".

OMG bro, Your first post over at 1addicts didn't go over so well. What set that off..? BTW, Your usually on top of your game, but some recent news is that the eDiff in the 135i was specifically tuned for that car... extensively! More is comming in about it but this video should really let you absorb the fact the the 135i is the performance BMW... not the 335i. The 3 series is as big as the 5 series was in 1997. The 135i is almost the same size as my e46 330ci! Point is, many people have simple dismissed the new 135i as a "baby bimmer" and havn't actually stopped and look at WHY and what this car is. M-Package standard, 6-Piston Brembos up front!, Special eDiff, 200lbs lighter, highly tuned suspension, cleaner interior... etc. Everything is centered around PERFORMANCE! Anyways, Have a looksee: more: So you can see that it is NOT unexpected that BMW makes the 1 series sans luxury and trades that off for performance and spent a good deal "tuning" the chasis and special eDiff. |

Furthermore, find me anywhere OFFICIAL that says that the new Elocking diff is in the 1 series. Please, I will give you a cookie. Yes the 1 series is marketed as a sporty coupe, MARKETED read the reviews because that's all it is is marketing. "The electronic limited slip differential comes standard in the all-new 1 Series. The main focus is on promoting a sporty driving style, for instance, when accelerating out of a bend or hairpin turn. An electronic function slows the spinning wheels, thus enhancing the car's traction without any negative effects on its steering behavior." This is DTC my friend. Just cleverly worded to make people feel special. They have a word for this, it's called marketing.

I would like more data on the intake. The 135 is sweet - we all share the same engine now so that means we can talk shop and learn about these parts together. The 135 guys are excited about their cars who cares.
Are we going to be seeing these parts soon like in a month or we gong to have to wait a long time for this? I'm guessing pricing won't be THAT bad. All the prices are jacked up for our cars right now anyway. More parts is a good thing - dilutes the market, gets some competition going (excluding Dinan of course, they do whatever the fuck they want). |

Like I said... your usually on top of your game. I think you've grossly overlooked many of the mechanical application of BMW's new performance series.

The 135i was designed and built for performance...first and foremost. Thats not marketing, it the facts! I too would like to find out more about the 135i's electronic differential, but i have seen a diagram of it and it had all three systems on that board, so... no e-diff is not DTC. Though it might just be a mnore robust mode or work in conjunction with it. |
