Here is CL on AIS. She's still way behind Kassel. Even though K isn't showing on the AIS map, we see her on the Cent Bridge camera and you can see there is a large gap between the two.
The MF locks are around where you see "New Emerald" on this AIS map. |

Here is a pic from the Mira Flores camera. You can barely see the Centennial Bridge way in the background. A little before the bridge you can see some small locks (and a clump of ships). You may be able to see K in those locks. Sometimes the camera operator will zoom in on those locks and it is very cool. It doesn't look like we will get that view today. Just watch in the far distance and look for her distinct "white top."

I was wrong. I think this is CL coming through the Mira Flores locks. I now see Kassel on the AIS radar and she is way behind CL. These ships are difficult to track because they look identical.

Here are more photos of what looks like Kassel at the Centennial Bridge. We will see for sure when she goes through the Mira Flores Locks, which are coming up after the bridge. I am posting these photos for anyone who is not able to watch these live and joins the thread later.

Fantastic job. Great sunset shots looking back to the WNW as the ship proceeds SEasterly! coming from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
I agree that this must be Kassel passing the Centennial Bridge; even at a distance you can tell that this ship's bridge is smaller than the CL's, just as shown in your photos of the two ships above. |

How long have you been watching? It has been very confusing keeping track of these two ships today.

Just checking intermittently - more this morning. The only hard part was that K totally disappeared after clearing the Gatun locks. I did not see K again until I just checked in. I spotted CL about an hour ago and thought I might have missed K completely.

Yeah, I know. AIS has been down a lot all day. LOTS of red arrows, which means their radar signal is lost. If it is red for 30 minutes, they remove the arrow completely, so the ship becomes a ghost ship.

Because of the delay I am guessing that CL is already through the locks and that Southampton Express and Chiriqui III are approaching now.
