In other words, what's your point? I'm relaying real work experience. Yes, it would have been better if everything was clean. Yes, for those who don't know what's going on, it raises questions about shop cleanliness. Absolutely. Yes, it's a PITA to install and uninstall turbos. No, some shavings on a turbine aren't a big deal. No, a customer would never see that or care on a turbine engine, which is a little different, because we test them prior to shipping and that crap would get blown out. If the owner is concerned flush the oil and coolant lines. Blow the debris out of the turbine side, then run them.
You have a little attitude I see. The point is, "IF" after you tested your product and sent it to the engine manufacture, it arrived to be installed and had metal shavings like the OP's has, would the engine manufacture "just blow out the shavings" or would they send it back and ding your PPM's?

Generally speaking, they wouldn't care. They'd certainly never send it back.

You guys are majoring in the minors. It's okay, I mean, I'd rather see the stuff sparkling clean too. I'm just stating some debris on the turbine isn't a real issue, while I already also stated that debris in the important parts is. It has nothing to do with pride, it has to do with not freaking out over stupid shit that doesn't matter. Again, I'd want to sell my stuff looking good, but if I found some crap from assembly/etc on a turbine, I wouldn't think twice about it, and no one who is in that industry would either -as long as that's the only place it was. You guys need to up your Xanax doses. lol

xoxo

Your points are 100% valid... As long as there isn't something potentially more at play going on with this set. Which who in their right mind would want to risk it if they're spending big money on turbos? Certainly not me

Step aside guys, we have a major league'r here. He's such a pro-badass that he uses his xray vision to help determine if there are any flaws with internal components that most of us cannot find unless we disassemble it. He knows shavings are no big issue on the turbo. He knows, and therefor, the turbos are 100% perfect otherwise.

Listen to him. He knows.

Curious to see how this all went? did you end up installing them? I just received a set of stage 1's with the same issue... my ones also had a problem with the internal gate too. lucky you guys live in the same country as Vargas.

how many of you had orderd stage 2 turbos with metal shavings ? also there is a bit of shaft play what are your guys thoughts on these

will not YET say were i got my turbos form. i want to see your guys thoughts
I WOULD NOT ever, ever install those.

The shavings came from somewhere. Most likely novice machining work and weren't blown out (best case). Worst case, these are shavings from interference (blade/housing). You NEVER EVER want to install that without being 100% sure those have been removed. They will find their way into your engine if they aren't trapped by the IC.

There looks to be scuffing on the ID of the housing from the blade contacting the bore. As soon as you spend the vast amount of time to install these, they most likely will start to have issues. The machining on these is pretty poor IMO (I come from the mold making business and have 15years as a mechanical engineer).

I feel terrible for you guys. Its one thing to get stuck with bad turbos, its another to be stuck with flawed turbos that can cause more expensive issues.

I would do what the guy said a couple posts above and sell them to someone like him, who doesn't care about metal shavings in his turbo. There is a good chance he will have problems as he wouldn't be the first!

It's not a pride thing in your opinion (my opinion differs) and it's an assumption that i'm not in the business. I wouldn't have shipped them that way and i certainly wouldn't assume everything is ok with them if i were installing them JMO.
