The whole "clipped" turbine wheel thing is very old school and a thing of the past. Does Precision Turbo or Garrett "clip" their turbines? No. Unnecessary and ineffective.

Old school Garrett turbos from the 80's that use the old turbine wheel castings with a heavy angle on the exducer blade will gain a bit from a "clip". But this is a thing of the past, doesn't apply to turbochargers of today.
I agree with the bolded part. Just don't know much about your turbine

I like the results of Lucas's dyno though. Looking forward to seeing the results of another Stg2 Pure dyno.

Pure has the best kits for N55 and S55 so these N54 results are a disappoitment. The competition has made more power. But the biggest problem is the slow spool. I would go back to the drawing board.

More power? You're comparing a AT car with E50 + Meth to a MT car with 100% E85. Wait for the other test car to be finished and post dyno results. He's MT with inlets and PI. Besides, my 630whp AT will stomp on a 700whp MT N54

Exactly. LOL @ the short sighted reply from the poster you're responding too.

Pure: any plans for Stage 1 type builds, etc.? I'm sure a lot of peeps aren't necessarily looking for a butt ton more power. A nice bump in power plus a more reliable set of turbos overall will be a hit; especially since most N54s are now approaching higher mileage figures. Make those and there will be a lot of happy N54 owners with rattling wastegates lining up at your door tomorrow.

Of course before starting a group buy, we will post our official announcement thread including more details, pics of the turbos, and possibly a second set of dyno results.

These turbos are intended to make big power with stock frames. They are built using the same strategy as our other Stage 2 turbos: 100% direct fit bolt on. No oil or coolant line changes, and look 100% stock from the outside. Also utilizing the stock 1.81" OD turbo inlet diameter. Therefore we only recommend inlet systems meant to fit the stock compressor housing inlet. We have tested a few inlet kits in house, the kits meant to fit 2" inlets do not fit well, and we do not recommend them.

All our turbos come fully optioned, billet compressor wheels, big thrust, wastegate repair and upgrade, etc.

Pricing:

Group Buy Price - $3500 + core ($300 for 335i, $600 for the others)
Retail - $3900 + core

In the event we proceed with a group buy, we were thinking 20 spots to fill. We are open to thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks for the interest guys and gals.
Put me down for a set! It's walkingthedead1(Matt) from Instagram I emailed you guys the other day.

This is with 100% meth. What about no meth at all? Just pump gas and pump gas+e40/60. Some 335i owners dont run meth. What will be the number look like? At what ball park?

I'm not comparing any specific cars. RB and VTT have stock frame results up to 68X WHP and I believe Pure can achieve the same given some time, tuning and dedication. Also higher ethanol percentage and lower transmission losses are factors, yes.

We are at the practical limit of the stock turbine housings though with the current record numbers. It looks to me that Pure has larger wheels than what is necessary to max the stock frames. Spool suffers. Good to have more data though.

Btw. An additional small amount of 100% meth is better than 85% ethanol only given good distribution.

So what makes this Stage 2 offer more power than the Stage 2 for the N55?

Just curious; is it because it's TT and not Twin-Scroll?

N55 Stage 2 seems to get around 530, maxed out, where as this is hitting all the way up to 630, with room for more?

N55's are sitting around 530 because of tuning, not the turbo's themselves. PURE N55 S2 can handle around 600hp. We all know N54's are in a league of their own

Now now, no need to be mean.

Haha, just kidding. I appreciate your input however!

We'll catch up in due time though, don't worry.

N54 PURE Stage 2

More info on the N54 PURE Stage 2 Upgrade:

The test car had a boost leak when it left PURE. Dyno'd with a boost leak. Our mistake. It appears to be fixed now, though it still hasn't been pressure tested. Point is, it's spooling much faster now. The customer grabbed a couple logs this morning. Previous logs were spooling around 3800rpm. Now it's spooling around 3400rpm. See below:

In the works:
- Re-dyno the first test car (with no boost leaks)
- Install these turbos on 2x MT test cars in the next couple weeks then more dyno results

I am definitely intrigued in this. Would like to stay away from meth or e85 though. Do these price points include tuning?

Pretty soon here we'll be doing some 91 octane dyno testing. Were you planning on running 91, 93 or 100 octane? If you have a JB4 then Terry will be able to help you fine tune your car. If you don't currently use the MHD flashing app you should check it out so that you can load up either a pump gas flash or race gas flash. If don't use a JB4 then you can also use MHD to load a flash only map.

The car has a Cobb AP right now although I'm not attached to it. Need to run 91 for now but will do a 93 tune before I move back east in a year and a half.

To be honest with you, Cobb is obsolete for N54's. MHD is the latest and greatest. Sell you Cobb while you can and invest in an Android device, DCAN cable and an OTG cable (USB to micro USB). You should invest in a JB4 G5 ISO as well. BMS offers free back end flashes that you can load using MHD that go hand in hand with the JB4.

From what I heard Cobb and mhd is pretty much the same thing and with a wedge tune numbers with be very similar with Cobb vs mhd

Maybe obsolete was the wrong word but it's not needed for flashing N54's.
