I'm not married so I don't really have a dog in this fight, however, with that said I don't know if I would want to do a cruise or one of those vacation packages where its dictated what we can or cannot do... If I'm on my honeymoon is rather it just be me and the wifey - making our own memories and not having to share them with a group of that makes sense...
But that's just me... Like I said I haven't been forced at gunpoint down that road so what do I know... |

I have nothing against being married, it's the honeymoon that freaks me out! If I got divorced, found myself a dream man, was marrying him and then he'd say "honey we are going to a beach for two weeks" that love story would end there. I'm sooo not the beach holiday type, and most people I know would object going camping as a honeymoon.

Stayed in the Four Seasons in Wailea, Maui. It was quite heavenly. Not sure what to complain about except the cost. Best surprise was it was not pretentious at all.

You must been my twin on past life. We didn't go to honeymoon either, because the company I was with was dealing a huge civil suit (plaintiff), and we were in the middle of negotiation. BUT i would like to tell people that I went to Aspen CO for honeymoon ~2month after, because we did go to Aspen for other reasons about 2mo after...

Vegas and get a sky loft suite at the aira or stay at the wynn or encore......
Seems less romantic but let me tell you nothing but 5 star accommodations the best food you will ever have in your life and the sky the limit and how nice you want this trip to be. Wife and i go every year. A vacation to me includes (eat, sleep and fuck) thats it with no children. Hawaii wayy to far let alone bora bora ect. over rated too if the beach is your thing i recommend Jade mountain in St lucia. http://www.jademountain.com/ break out your wallet but 20K well spent

Bora Bora is a sick destination, but it's a pain to get there. You typically go LAX to Tahiti, then about an hour flight to Bora Bora.
I've been both places and can tell you the Cayman Islands has an INCREDIBLE beach and is the safest place in the Caribbean. I recommend the Ritz on 7 Mile Beach and for an incredible dinner, Blue, by Eric Ripert. I think the food in Cayman was better than Bora Bora. Different experience, but the snorkeling, stingrays, weather, and MUCH more convenient makes Cayman my joice. I'd also consider Tokyo or Disney for a second Honeymoon. |

I MISSED ONE PAYMENT!!! Thank goodness there were no consequences, I remember being scared silly that interest would be charged back to day 1. One month the balance came due, and I paid it from savings. Very painful but glad it was done for good. We did not go on a honeymoon, just a mini-trip to of all places, DC. One of her bffs and hubby wanted to go there since they and many guests were from Calif. |

Seems like your budget isn't really concerning, then my vote goes to French Polynesia or Hawaii. But both of them don't offer any all inclusive package.
In FP, either Bora Bora or Moorea is nice. Bora Bora has nicer lagoon but island is little remote and you usually waste time on the traveling on water. In Moorea, it's more tropical and also has nice lagoons but still has enough land coverage to travel in motorcycle/car/scooter. We stayed in Sofitel over water bungalow in both islands and I prefer Moorea more because of versatility. When you are choosing the hotel, DO NOT decide on the photos from website. Use google map to see where they are located in the lagoon and pick the one you like. And food isn't really great in FP and it is quite expensive so be prepare to spend $$$ on eating. And of course, beach is one of the best in the world. No doubt on this. In Hawaii, for honeymoon I would either recommend Grand Hyatt in Kauai or Four seasons in big island. Kauai has beautiful tropical setting and has one of the best mud buggy place I've ever been to. Grand Hyatt has very nice setting and food is great. We stayed in executive suite and damn I felt so special - much more exclusive than overwater bungalows at same price. Resort is rather large, so you need to book the room in right location or you would be walking all the time. But beach in Kauai is terrible so don't even bother looking for one. In big island, it is quite dull and nothing special compare to Kauai's natural beauty. But it offers nice little places along with fantastic lava fields and it is quite fun to travel around the island. And Four seasons is just great - little over priced for the amenities you receive though. Resort is beautiful and atmosphere is very upscale. However beach is also terrible right off the resort. But there are plenty of nice beaches around so no worries. If I were to go back, I would probably go back to Moorea for 5 days and 3 days in Bora Bora. It looks like we're leaning towards Hawaii right now. It is convenient with us being on the west coast. There is a lot of different options with the multiple islands, and we want to do something more than sitting on the beach or at a resort. We are looking at all your guys' options though! So far, aside from normal travel sites (like Expedia), we've discovered the Costco Travel, which is really cool!

You do not have kids and you'r eon the west coast, get your arse to Australia. You can do the whole beach/relax thing and get as adventurous as you want, Sydney is a magnificent tourist city, it really is.
Do something you will not do once the weight of the worlds crushes your spirit. Fly Qantas premium Economy, stay in downtown Sydney, hit the beaches, hit the nightlife, hit the very close by National parks, it has everything. Only downside is it's an expensive country but hey it's all 30% off in USD and no tipping or additional taxes!! |
