I bought an E36 from EAG. It was definitely overpriced given the rear did not have original paint (something I pointed out) and the underbody was heavily rusted. Luckily I was able to see the car and not lose money.

Probably wouldn't buy from this dealer again since they are not local.

I thought EAG only sold pristine examples? You'd think so with their high asking prices...

It was definitely overpriced but you were able to sell it and not lose money? Makes me think it was priced about what it was worth.

EAG has been using this business model for years where they stock up on certain models and market them as enthusiast/collector caliber. Interesting business model and I think they're betting that if it worked for Porsche it will work for BMW. It almost smells like the equivalent of price fixing or an attempt to manipulate market values

Somehow though I feel as if recession predictions hold true the used car market will fall quite quickly, especially on less desirable models, i.e. BMWs, American muscle. Hope this is not gonna happen but I feel the bubble about to burst

What sort of ill effects will the cars experience from not having been driven? Vehicles are not made to sit around.

But putting all that aside, this is a different order of magnitude of what they are offering and you ALWAYS ask as high as possible to start on these types of cars. How many e39s and e46s are there with this mileage and condition in the U.S.? Maybe 1-2 a year come on the market.

They are simply pricing accordingly. To put this into context, Porsche 993 twin turbos well used are now going for these prices....and "brand new" ones in similar shape are going for >$200k and being snapped up.

This is not the enthusiast market anymore - this is the rich-people-who-like-automotive-art-market. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
WELL SAID. Cars like this are so rare. If someone with a bunch of cash wants to swing his dick around town and say they bought this car, let em'.

Guess this is just the typical response to an EAG related sale...20 hate responses to every 1 valid response.

I love the fact that everyone who buys a car from EAG is a "sucker" or a "rich idiot". Guess what...whoever buys these cars has a solid investment on their hands. They won't lose a penny on the investment with time capsules like this....not with EAG controlling the market. EAG is the best thing to happen to clean M cars and their owners. For those who own clean examples, you can thank EAG when you decide to sell since you will ultimately use THEIR prices as a reference. AND, with the high prices, it keeps the true morons, tire kickers, shit talkers, haters, etc. etc. off the lot...and for that I say "THANK YOU, EAG!"

I think the prices are more than fair. The bread and butter of the M cars that EAG is providing are the EPITOME of the M badge. Based on the direction BMW is going, these true M cars have nowhere to go but UP in value. And with these being arguably the cleanest examples out there that we know of, you better believe a premium is going to be demanded. Why are these prices LOL worthy or "absurd"? Because you can't afford them? Give me a break...the days of bargain M3's, M5's, Z3 M Coupes are LONG gone. You want to play, then man up and PAY up. There's no time for PPI's or financing for clean examples at a great price. EAG will take that risk but there's a shit ton of others who will do their research before pulling the trigger. Good luck with that. People like EAG are a sellers dream. They wire money within hours, pay the asking price, and send for a truck.

I LOVE EAG's business model, and whether you choose to believe it or not they ARE Enthusiasts. All I know is that our couple BMW investments are safe thanks to them. So thank you EAG!

Garage List
2020 M2 Competition  [10.00]
2007 E86 M coupe  [8.40]
2002 E39 M5  [9.50]
The same kind of polarizing opinions are found on M5Board.com. Many of those with the means like the one-stop shopping for a very nice M car. Others are upset that EAG "swoops in" and buys cars before private buyers can buy the car. The reality is that, if you are trying to sell your precious M car, EAG will make you a fair cash offer in a very short period of time. No tire kickers, no finance stories, no wait times. In the end, the market decides the price of the cars. I alway enjoy looking at the cars on their site.

I would happily choose an E46 m3 like that over my F80 and it be all the car I ever need. It's the perfect mix of M perfection. I've got both at the moment but the thing that pushed me to getting the F80 was to have a new M3 in manual. The new car bug had hit. The E46 was ageing in certain areas. I can see the appeal of the new car but every time I jump back into my E46 and start her up to feeling the connection to the road and the throttle response. It makes me feel I don't think I could ever sell it. And the desire for the things it lacks are not really important. But then when I jump back in the F80 even though it's lacking in some character, sound and direct connection to engine through responsive throttle. The modern interior, great seats and that monster of an engine with its power not to mention its practicality make me so confused. Some would say to keep both but I know financially I have to let one go.

Now a Cayman gts/gt4 for example ticks all the boxes for me. A raw driver focussed NA sport car in a modern disguise. If it wasn't the fact it's only 2 seater I would have it as the last car till end of time.

So confused I don't know what to do. Maybe I should have not got the F80, kept enjoying the E46 and then one day aim for a used 997 or 991 Carerra GTS in manual.

Sorry for the ramble. Needed to get it out. Haha

EAG are straight up criminals.....that's all there is to it. Pristine examples or not, they are a disgrace to the business.

If that's the case, what do you call the people who sell vintage Ferraris for $30 million plus?

We have a couple of those "dealers" here as well.

One has a 36.000km (22,300 miles) 850CSi for sale. Recently sold at an Aachen dealership for €66.000, now for sale at €109.950.

Lastly, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And as a previous poster said before, there will always be someone who wants these cars in this condition and will pay for it.
I hear you.

But also, man we are talking about cars. What happened? Cars meant to be driven, now only obtainable for rich and famous, who buy it and just store it.

Such a waste.

Old air cooled 911's suffer from this so badly.

There's an old saying that the one that's crazy/dumb is not the one who asks but the one who pays. This type of practice it's also a rich person's game as its those with money that start this trend and make these types of "investments". So yes, if capitalism means the game of the rich/manipulative then I will align to that definition

I don't know, investors collectors,etc......we are talking about some damn multi unit produced e36 and e46 m cars here not some rare single existing Ferrari race car or something. You think having a 100k e46m in your investment portfolio is a good idea? Lol go right ahead. You think storing a car that is designed to deteriorate without use is a good investment? Go right ahead.

Those thieves almost single-handedly raised the market price for e30 m3's and e39 M5's over the years. That kills the enthusiast market.

Similar experience a few weeks ago when I went to buy my GF a car. There was a cherry 2011 335i M Sport Sedan (NOT a common car at all), all the options with only 60K on it in Greeville, TX. It had been on their lot maybe a day when I saw it on AutoTrader. They were selling it for $20K (a Chrysler dealer). Don't know if I really would've bought the damn thing, but I sure as hell was gonna go see it. Called the dealer two days later from Dallas to go look at it, sales guy told me some guy from FL just flew in with cash the day before and it was GONE. Same type of situation. That thing's going to one of those types of lots in FL to be sold for about $8K more than it was bought for.
