Largest benefit of them is the fact that it still is "emissions friendly", reduces smell, healthier and smooths out sound. If you want a legal car in CA, stay stock or stay with CARB friendly mods. I can't recall any downpipe even with cats actually being CARB certified - it would be a near impossible task and lots of $$$$. |

It's not carb legal, but when the hood is opened and the tech is looking for catts their their. Will he know their not stock who knows. You could gut your stock cats. Then they would look stock run the cat fix and your done.
Don't know if anyone has ever dynoed 1 or not. |

hey guys, just a quick update since the install.
I have had no issues whatsoever. I also removed my JB4 quite awhile ago as well and have not gotten a CEL. Currently running no tune at all at the moment and still not getting a CEL. So I would say you will not need any CEL deletes. I am currently in the process of going from catted to catless (want a bit more noise) so will definitely post up stock dp vs catless dp gains. I'd also like to mention the dyno pic I posted up I am running an axle back Remus exhaust

Did you compare catless to catted performance difference with a tune?

I've been pulled over for running a straight pipe (no cat). The sound is amazing and gains were great, but the fix-it ticket wasn't.
I've driven behind/around catless cars and it definitely smells. It also depends on how sensitive your nose is, but regardless there is a gasoline-burning scent - no denying that. Get a catless DP if: - You don't care if you get pulled over - You want the HP gains - You don't mind the smell - You want the sound Get a catback DP if: - You want to get as much HP while complying with smog regulations - You don't want any smell

Not an issue here in NZ, perfectly legal
The concern about the smell did hold me back but I eventually went catless and I can barely tell the difference, it's only slightly stronger than a regular car with a cat. |
