Well, that's a shame. I had a trip planned to them next year and $5K allotted to spend on upgrades.

I guess now, I take that money and trade my 335d for a ZL1 or an RS7.

Dang.

This sucks, but I don't blame them. They are a business and need to look after their interests.

I was hoping to add and tune in some hybrids later on but I guess I'll have to make my own piggyback for that.

There are a business, but they had the 335d in the US pretty much on lock down. There's a ton of gas bmw tuners. Guess it's now Canada with JR and AA to take over this market. Let's see who opens up new doors in the states.

Crazy, I just had my DDE tuned with a Stage 2+ a few weeks ago. Glad I got it before they stopped, but was planning to upgrade to a Stage 3 tune in the future.

Don't think car parts can't be added to contraband and embargo lists. Customs can easily stop that stuff through the post office and FedEx, just by the shipping address. I doubt they'll go that far, but you never know.

What really irks me about this whole thing is how nobody but a customer who drives it on the public roads has actually technically done anything illegal. And even in that case, it is against an overreaching Federal law that also technically only applies to the manufacturers. They can't enforce anything like this after the car leaves the dealer. That is why they are going after the shops now.

The really bad part is just my opinion on the "overreaching" part. Yes, vehicle emission control has shown positive outcomes, but only in certain urban areas in the country that were particularly bad for one reason or another. Denver is a good example. We had a terrible brown cloud over the city due to temperature inversions locking that stuff in around the city during calm periods. It's really more of a weather issue than anything else.

I'm in an emissions test-free county zone living only 25 miles outside the city, but have to suffer this nonsense along with the rest of the country, most of which has no smog problem. It should be left to the States and Municipalities to administer and enforce. Much more efficient and less D.C. bureaucracy. Hell, the States have to do all the work anyway.

No, I did not know. I mean I assumed, but can't find a good list of "comparable to BPC" shops.

n00b.

Is there a FAQ for picking up a used DDE? Stage 1 is fine by me. 2011 BMW 335d.

No spider boot. Any gotchas with 2009-2010? Thinking I read that Euro DDEs are a no-go for a reflash. So many revisions.

Thanks!

Assuming this is part of a crackdown - does no one here second guess posting details regarding other options in a public forum? I mean seriously... this might as well be an Access Hollywood RV.

Anything going on is publicly available knowledge from numerous sources. It's a bit paranoid to believe some EPA creep is monitoring the Internet for leads in their diesgate crackdown.

Besides, nobody's broken any law. BPC in not even sure where they stand, legally. It's just a "better safe than sorry" measure. The funny thing about the Federal outlook is the logistics just don't make sense. That's what you get when you have stupid fat government meddling in everything they can get their noses into. The effort and cost to prosecute just one end user/driver is a high cost vs. benefit proposition, not to mention a fool's errand, the way the laws are written. Nobody would ever be convicted of anything. All they can do is intimidate and hassle the businesses.

Whatever happened, it's a tight secret. Employees are towing the company line & and MUM is the WORD.

Sucks, man. If this is government intrusion, it's another reason why THAT is a PITA.

Please see our response in the following new thread.
Thank you all for your continued support moving through the end of 2016 and into the start of a brand new year for BPC.
