some of you need to eat at more expensive restaurants where the kids are like "no! you need to take the M3, I get the Lambo behind it."

Shit I always valet. So much easier than creeping around a crowded parking lot following some old Grandma who cant remember where she parked, just to get spot sniped by some douche in an M. And a valet probably isnt going to do anything to my car in the short drive to the parking lot, that I havent done to my car 100 times.
I like valet'ing cheaper cars, cause they dont expect a big tip. I give a valet a $10 tip in my Hyundai and I get treated like a king, but a $20 tip in a new Audi gets my car shit in. |

$3 is usually the minimum tip.

Depends where.....
I am usually hesitant, but once in a while i will just let them do it.. Most of the time i'll throw the valet a $20 and tell them to keep it up front. Even if they have to move it back and forth, better than it going down to an unknown garage.

I usually just round it to the nearest 5$ after the valet fee. If it's already round, I give 2$. Seems adequate to me for 30 seconds of work. |

I was a valet 15 years ago, at a lot that supported about 5 different resteraunts ranging from Hooters to fancy seafood.
Normal tips ranged from $2-5. (valet was complimentary) But that was 15 years ago. That's about $3 and $6 in todays dollars. The Hooters folks overall tipped better, but you were more likely to get a big tip ($10-20) from a fancy seafood guy for the "leave it in a good spot" fee. If it was a nice car, we would typically park it in front anyway regardless of tip, as we were all car guys and gals anyway.

I try to avoid parking valet whenever possible but when I do I always tip $5 and only at the end. Never had a problem. I'm surprised some people tip before and after. I don't believe that's the norm, but I could be wrong.
