I'm creating a kickstarter. Just waiting on their verification. Should be live in the next couple of days.

OK, so I know I am going to get flamed for asking this BUT would there be any way to get a test blank to see if it would fit in my card case? I am very interested in one of these but if it won't fit in the middle slot of my card case there's no way I'd actually carry it. Mock away, but I'm not ditching the card case I've carried the same one for years and if/when it wears out (going 15 years strong now) I will just replace it with the exact same thing.

I'm super interested in dumping this brick they call a key, but my car is a lease. How permanent is this solution. Would it be possible to move the PCB back into the original housing?

That would really depend on how clean of a cut to the original keyfob. Our fobs are sealed so they need to be either broken or cut open to split the two halves. I have a thin rotory tool blade that makes it almost imperceivable. On my personal one I removed the switches off of the board, but I'm designing the manufactured one thicker to accommodate the switches.

Latest response from Kickstarter. They want me to make a video displaying the "features" and "hardware/software" integration
I'll have a second video ready tomorrow and resubmit it (again). Should be up soon.

Not at the moment. Having such a tight clearance doesn't leave room for extra assemblies for the buttons. I don't expect many people to actually want to go through with this so adding more complexity and girth doesn't make sense at the moment.

Non-starter for F83 vert owners as we use the key buttons all the time opening/closing the roof when outside of the car - also 7+mm is really quite thick and although credit card sized clearly will not fit in a wallet i.e. basically this would be a flatter version of the key fob - don't get me wrong , still a cool idea as clearly other manufacturers have gone this route and best of luck indeed in the venture. If you manage at some point to incorporate the buttons then I will look again .

I have a different reason for preferring a version with some type of buttons. I often have to take a ferry to Vancouver Island and back and need to disable the motion sensor of the alarm. That requires a second press of the lock button to do.
Would be nice of there were two versions, but I get that's a lot to ask at this point. |

It's been in my wallet for over a year now. Most wallets have a thicker back section. That's where I kept my spare key for my Infiniti and now that's where I keep this. I even posted pictures earlier in this thread with it in my wallet.

Is it at the limit for width and length? I want the smallest fob possible to put in my pocket.

Yes but I am one of those that prefer a very thin wallet and current wallet with ID and all my cards comes in ar less than 1 cm thick - so adding a 7mm+ unit to it would defeat the purpose for me - entirely my situation and clearly not an issue for others.

If you look at the project and in earlier comments of this thread I've agreed to make it a bit skinnier. My personal one is 55mm wide, but the manufactured one will be closer to 30mm. I had originally planned on getting another metal key and making a slot for it.

I'm potentially in for this as well. Great idea!

Well 2 days to go and no backers. I had one, but he backed out as I would expect with no other backers. I tried to make this a reality for you guys, but you chose to not support.
