Bali or Vietnam. Tons of beaches, super cheap, no kids, etc.
Ps- never been go st thomas or st marteen but I have been pretty much everywhere else in the Caribbean and, besides Jamaica which I loved, I prefer Hawaii over pretty much anything there. Atlantis, Paradise Island in Bahamas is nice but is known for families. There are towers exclusive to adults. Pps- actually Atlantis might be something to consider. The resort is so big that you could spend a whole week there just chilling and maybe do one or two trips into town or visit other islands. Come to think of it, Atlantis could fit perfectly for you. Wherever you go, find an all-inclusive. It sucks to carry coins in your Speedo to pay for drinks/tip. Can't be tipping whole rolls of quarters either. . .

Hawaii gets my top vote for having it all + the aloha spirit.
Alternates: - Thailand if you're looking for an adventure on a budget. - Turks & Caicos if you're only going to lay on the beach all day. - Bora Bora, Maldives or Seychelles if you're spendy. |

What can you do in Bora Bora, Maldives, or Seychelles that you can't do in Turks & Caicos (besides drain your savings account or sleep in an overwater bungalow)? Hawaii is chock full of activities but all of those other islands are pretty much the same in terms of activities offered. I actually did a shitload in T&C when I was there and I spent about $2,500 TOTAL for 6 days, including food.

I love how you mentioned that Hawaii is pushing it for you due to the long flight time, and half the people are recommending French Polynesia and the South Pacific; that's more than twice as far!
For a shorter flight I would probably recommend one of the more remote Caribbean islands - Anguilla, Antigua, St Lucia, etc. You'll get that once-in-a-lifetime beach experience without the ridiculous flight. Don't get me wrong - South Pacific, Maldives, Hawaii are each incredible, but you can find plenty of incredible trips in the Caribbean and not need the long flights.

Lol @ cartels. I understand your concern OP, but the touristy resort cities in Mexico feel safer than any city in America. I was in Cabo San Lucas a few months ago and it was gorgeous, clean, and very fun. The only downside is that you cannot enter the water in most beaches due to the strong currents. Otherwise, it was such a lovely place. Cancun is nice too.
Hawaii is good option as well. Waikiki has a bit of a "Vegas" feel in that its crowded and feels just a tad bit trashy after dark. It's still fun though and there's a lot of nature to be seen if you're willing to drive. The other islands are more relaxing and feel more like the "real" Hawaii. It's like how San Diego feels like the "real" southern California despite LA being the major population center. |

LOL at Cabo. That is the only vacation I've ever actually disliked. You can't swim or snorkel because of the currents and depth of the water (that right there sucks a lot of the fun out), the beach wasn't very clean, there is a CONSTANT flow of annoying vendors walking the beach, the restaurants were "meh", and it's the only destination I actually felt unsafe in. I've been to a lot of places but that's one I would not recommend to anyone. I told a coworker this same thing but she went anyway. She came back and told me I was absolutely right in my assessment.

Wouldn't pick cabo for honeymoon probably either but unsafe is a joke. It's better that almost any us I'm cities as far as that feels. Swimming isn't really an issue either unless you stay on the Pacific side. Try a nice time in belize city for unsafe

Maybe "unsafe" is too strong. I wasn't scared walking around but I definitely felt like I had to watch my ass more than I care to when I'm trying to relax and unwind.

Wife and I went to Europe (Paris, France and Florence, Italy) and absolutely loved it. So many memories and worth the trip over spending time in the Caribbean.

In like 15 years. My wife and I just try to spell each other off for one activity per trip so the other can do what they want once while the other watches. Busy, but worth it once your turn comes up. Young kids are difficult to keep watch over though to be sure. Part of me can't wait till they are a little bit better behaved. |
