geeezzz....you will never need to worry if you do not do the heavy mods....chips...meth...etc.... You play with fire you are going to get burnt at some point in time. Brings back of memories when Nitrous first came out....funny seeing all of those chevys with cast iron con-rods, 2 bolt mains and cast iron cranks blown to pieces..then some cheap systems that exploded when started because of the leaks.

It sounds like it has to be registered in one of those states. Hey how do you know if you have wastegate rattle? I hear an initial rattle when I start the car but it slowly goes away. People claim they hear it when they decelerate as well.

That sucks that it's limited to specific states. I'm close to Cali, but registered In Nevada

it would almost be worth the hassle of registering it in cali to get it fixed for free like it should be anyways, my dad lives there. It would not be that hard to do.............

My bone stock 2008 e92 335xi is at the dealership getting pulled apart right now. They haven't mentioned a thing about cost. I'm at 70k miles and it's CPO. They said BMW is "opening a case" to see what to do. Should I be expecting to pay anything? I was a little concerned that they started ripping it apart without discussing cost with me. I hope that means it's the $50 or nothing...

Turbos aren't hard just time consuming.
Pull engine bay plastics, remove subframe, drain oil and coolant, remove dps and FMIC and cold side pipe, pull turbos, clean oil lines, adjust wastegates of new turbos put them in, fill coolant and oil, go in reverse order, prime coolant, done. Parts needed all new gaskets and o rings, oil, coolant... Bolts oil lines and clamps can be reused. 2 man job maybe 10 hours labor. You need a motor hoist or tranny jack to keep the motor in place when the subframe comes out. Or you could do it the hard way and only lower the subframe. This is a very general turbo replacement description. ![]()

But a very accurate one. Just had both of my turbos replaced at a local dealer and that was the procedure described to me. BTW, any one know if you've got to keep the rpm's down for the first 1000 miles as is suggested w/a new motor?
