I don't understand some of the //M in a non-//M comments. We're not talking about just a badge here. It's a functional (albeit really expensive) piece of equipment.

Hands down, one of my best mods for my old E46 330ci was putting an M3 steering wheel to replace the stock sports package wheel. Just perfect in size and feel...

Some of the gadgets in this wheel would be great for someone bringing the car to a track. Not 100% necessary, but hey if you got $800 to burn, burn ahead baby.

keep in mind that there actually 2 part numbers
w/ paddle shifters: 32-30-0-445-258 (19 on backorder)
w/out paddle shifters: 32-30-0-443-170 (3 on backorder)

cover for multi function: 32-30-0-430-403
cover for non-multi function: 32-30-0-430-402

BMW states that this will only fit the 1 series and the e9x 3-series, not to say i couldnt be retro-fitted but these are the cars it is designed for.

There's a clear difference between M parts and being a poser. For instance, my old 2001 M-Sport E39 530i had the M-sport suspension, it came with wheels that said M on them and a thicker steering wheel that said M on it. M is still just a division of BMW, thus, their more performance oriented parts carry M labels. There's S-Line at audi (which even puts an S-Line badge on the front grill) and there are plenty of AMG labeled parts available for Benzes.

With that said, I'm an M-hater, and seeing M inside my car would bother me. I think this new wheel is very cool and have been waiting for a while, if for no other reason than that it should feel very very comfortable.

What about programing? Doesn't that thing have to be programed to the car's I-level or whatever balony bmw calls it? That'll probably cost another two hours in labor. Yes? $800 installed doesn't sound too bad.

EDIT: And by installed, I also mean programmed.

the installation should only take 1.5hrs (as advised). i havent done it yet so i dont know for sure. So you're looking at $800 + another $100 or so

the hell are you talking about

the M logo just shows that the part was made for an M car

for example, the M wheel, is a lot nicer than the stock 335i wheel

you're saying that I shouldn't install it just because my car is not an M?

Mtech steering wheel doesnt have M anywhere on it. Technically, neither does my M3 steering wheel.
