Not to derail the current thread ... but in the "cloned MSV70" thread you mentioned the following ...

"if you had a full dump of a 330i, you could copy your VIN/relevant information and flash that file over and it would work with no problems. except you probably don't want a 330i tune without the 3-stage manifold."

Since we're all in the camp of installing 3 stage intakes can this work instead of getting a canned tune?

(BUT since I live in FL, I get hit with $47.88 in taxes so $731.88 ... although I'd just have it mailed to a friend in another state, then to me ... so I'd be at the same price as BPC with AA).

In my opinion, around $500 should be the price point ... $700 +/- a few bucks does seem a bit excessive. BUT that's the downside of tuning the N52's ... just not enough options out there to keep it prices down.
Turner Motorsports will do it for less than $500, but you need to mail them your ECU and they return it. That is one of the least expensive options that I have found. Otherwise, you buy their over the web kit for another $217 or so. ECU Tuning also sells TMS products.

I was figuring in the prices to include the kit.

I'd prefer to pay the extra $$ for the kit so I can reflash the car if need be (if a repair shop reflashes the stock program, updates, etc) without having to send back the ECU. Plus I'd imagine they'll only retune the ECU so many times before it's an added expense, if it isn't already. But more than anything ... the piece of mind that I can do it on the fly if need be.

I'm pretty sure I read on a forum that BPC will do an ECU mail in tune for about the same as Turner. AA's ECU mail in is $459 (not including tax if in FL)

Ok someone here should help me out I think. Few days ago I made a 3 stage swap. Car was running totally fine and normal till yesterday night when I got check engine light on. I went to Autozone today for check engine scanning and shows error code P0440
It's a fault in the Evaporative Emission System for a predetermined period of time. From Autozone scanners shows it's an issue with canister purge valve solenoid. I think it's that hose in the tinniest space in the middle of manifold right ?? It's possible the valve after few days pulled out ?? During installation didn't look like broken to me. Any ideas ??

Zajac1, did you have any luck solving your problem?

I had a local shop in Dallas do the intake swap on my 2012 328xi wagon about a month ago, but I didn't flash the ECU with any updates. Ever since the swap, the car has noticeable hiccups around 3K RPM, and occasionally I'll get a check engine light. If I restart the car, the light does not reoccur. I was thinking that the check engine issue is a problem with the install, but I also am worried that my shop is going to blame it on the fact that I didn't do the tune. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone know how can I get my hands on the Hass / Terra tune?

There is another option that was also talked about. Yes the 3si is one of the best for this engine, you can also run the single and optimise he tune. You will loose your torque, but pick up hp. You will lose the transition points, and the rpm band will be smother. Finding a tuner that will give you a custom tune would be money well spent seeing a canned tune is $700+ when said and done. Realize this, headers, manifold, tune, is hovering around $3k hen all done besides the odds and ends.

Not even close

Headers 700$ pm aa. They always have sales and they are pretty gopd with the e90 crew. Bought my set last year
Headers 700$
3 stage intakr 300$
Tune 700$
Labour diy or around 500$
Total - 2200$

If you are somewhat handy and resourfull you could do it for under 2 k easy. Most guys here have diy headers and intake. You could even buy a used aa header for less.

And 700 is for bpc tune. You could get aa tune done at an authorize dealer for 500$.
6
3k if you go buy a new 3si and get the headers for full price. Not sure why you would do that but if guys are paying over a grand for pe exhaust then it is possible

I did the three stage manifold for like $300 with disa valves, Spare DME for $60 and my Galetto for $55.00.

Swapped the manifold in 2 1/2 hours and learned to tune myself, with a little help from some friends

I got mine on Ebay

people asking $400-$500 for the 3 stage are on crack. You can buy a whole N52 for $1000.

I have a 3 stage manifold that has two ports and my 325i seems to have one port.. for the breather hose. That being said, can I reuse my stage 1 manifold breather hose on the 3im and plug the other hole on the manifold?

You can use BMW breather hose 11617559530 between your oil separator and manifold. It's what BMW did.

The hoses aren't very flexible, so you're going to have a hard time getting your single port hose to reach the elbow.
