You work at the garden? What is your position there if you don't mind me asking?

As everyone else said it REALLY depends on your budget and the type of lifestyle you want to live....

EVERYTHING the poster from Rutherford said about the town is true, and also East Rutherford has a ton of apts all near the train station that are also nice. I live in the area, and take the train on the daily. The towns are clean, the commute is good, you have bus and rail service anytime and it's pretty short. (You will be in penn station in 30 minutes or less, or port authority in 30-35 during rush hour)

If space, backyard, etc. is what you are looking for then the "gold coast" is not for you. Parking blows, it's overcrowded, and in most of the areas you don't even need a car, so you'll be paying for a car or owning a depreciating asset that is collecting dust all day while you walk to the transportation to NYC.

They just built townhouses in Belleville, google "essex park centex". While most people will bash Belleville and say it's too close to Newark, yada yada.... it's also close to Nutley which is a very clean town, and this community happens to be a gated community across the street from a golf course. (With that said Nutley is worth checking out as well) It has a pool, clubhouse, your own attached garage, and the prices are reasonable. Commute to NYC also is very nice from here. Keep in mind that these are brand new construction so you are getting a modern place, opposed to something old and dated. (It's worth checking out for sure)

If you want more in-depth help feel free to PM me, I know most of North jersey in and out pretty well....

Btw, Edgewater is the longest commute to Manhattan on River Rd. Traffic can be a mess. Look at Galaxy on Blvd. East (66th St.). Also there are tons of townhouses with views of NYC along Blvd. East. Houses for rent too...
