you need to PPF your steering wheel.

but seriously the wheel is a wear item. you can always get it reupholstered (coby wheel). i'd rather do that than fiddle with gloves or look douchey.

This is why I would never get a steering wheel wrapped in alcantera.

No. There are no driving gloves that aren’t douchey unless you’re driving a race car on a track in a race suite… or you’re 80 with a handlebar mustache driving a vintage car from 1920.

I installed mine 4 years ago (https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4&postcount=45) and have a like-new leather stock wheel in storage.

If the alcantara wheel gets bad, I would rather replace it with a new one after a number of years over wearing gloves while driving. The fat M2 CS wheel is $563.88 at GetBMWParts: https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...el-32308746879.

But yeah, really a preference thing.

Sell the steering wheel and get something custom made in leather.

Or just replace the fabric one when it wears out. I never understood alcantara.

For canyon carving I use $5 fingerless bicycle gloves from Aliexpress. Works great! For track I have Alpinestars gloves.

If worried about 'douchey' you can always get skin coloured gloves, no one will notice then. Result!

This will work day and night. Also they act like GPS just in case you can't tell left or right from the driver seat

Those gloves will match nicely with the blue stripe at the top of the OP’s steering wheel.

All street gloves are douchey, at least it feels that way. With that said, I keep a pair of these in the car for spirited canyon drives to keep the alcantara dry. The best you can do is match your skin color.

Will they? Do the inscriptions glow in the dark?

I had simple fingerless leather unlined gloves for my previous car just to add some warmth to my hands (highly sensitive to cold ) without making it hot in the cabin. I didn't find them really convenient and got rid of. Currently I have very nice fabric, reasonably warm gloves from Porsche Design (matching my outfit and yes, I did double-check that PD garment wasn't Porsche accessories back then, just an Adidas premium collection) for really cold winter driving. They are no obstacle for a proper grip , but I don't use them often. I never thought of "douchey", nor care now.
