I just get the whole TESLA thing. Sure, times have changed and are continuing to change. I get it.
I've driven the Tesla and felt so uninspired and disconnected. There is no joy in driving these vehicles. NO engine sound kills it for me. I felt like I was in an empty room with silence. Quite annoying I must say. My niece's boyfriend works for them down in Raleigh and he took us out in a couple...S model and the SUV thing. Kinda cool at first but quickly lost it's zest. No way for me. I do believe the 3 does need a major overhaul. I have an E92 now and came from a F30. The steering feel in the E92 makes me feel connected to the road with great feedback. The F30 is numb and uninspiring. I believe in the long run BMW will make a huge 3 comeback and blow us away with the next generation. E92, E46, etc. The list starts there with perfection. The way a BMW ought to be. Last edited by RMNB; 06-26-2018 at 07:06 PM.. Reason: cuz |

Zero interest in owning electric vehicle until solid state batteries are readily available. They will change the game and make these current models obsolete. Smaller, lighter, more capacity. Still a few years out though.

Inspired by this thread, I clicked on a TopGear Video about the Tesla 3 on YouTube yesterday.
Despite the Video being horrible (quality, cut, content), one thing really striked me: the "test-person" activated auto pilot and was happy about the car doing all "those exhausting things". For those type of people, these cars will be a good deal, but if you want a connection to the road, a driving experience as such - I think we have to wait a little longer. I'm looking forward to the Rimac (Porsche just bought 20%) and other sport oriented electric powered cars, I can imagine they could become more and more fun. |

Just enjoy the car you drive I suppose. Tesla's just aren't my thing. No biggie. |

Given all of the extreme measures taken by Tesla in the past couple of weeks, I think they have a decent shot of making the 5000/wk goal this last week of the month.
That said, it also wouldn't surprise me if owners of these cars found hidden, "Help me!" messages in their vehicles like what Chinese sweatshop workers sometimes put into clothes. So the real question becomes, when do they hit 5000/wk SUSTAINABLY? |

Looks like they did it: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/29/tesl...y-numbers.html
7000 units in one week. They report earnings on 8/1, lets see how much their profit margin is. At this rate, its going to eat 3er/4er, Audi A4/A5, and C Class sales hard. Come on BMW!! Get that new 3er out already. |

Must be area specific. I have yet to see a Model 3, I've only seen a few Model S's. I do see F30s, 5-series, Benz C and E class, and Audis everywhere though.

Could be. I'm in Texas, where we can't have Tesla dealers and I'd guess I see on average, ten S's, maybe fifteen X's and three or four 3's daily.

Knowing that my bosses' Model X was in repair for over 3 month due to lack of parts on this side of the pond (.... and nobody could tell when they would arrive....), my big questions would still remain:
- long term reliability - availability of parts, maybe even the possibility to repair yourself etc. - build quality, also long term I know that Model S's are rather sturdy and more or less well built, that they are kind of reliable, but I'm wondering if their increase in production has or already had an impact on all these topics. |

More that they appear to be making short sighted decisions like selling your online sales to Amazon or abandoning cars rather than just making good ones. It wouldn't surprise me to see them file or get bought in the next five years though. Although who'd want Ford or Lincoln?

That's odd, because I walked into a Tesla dealer in Southlake.

Our dealer cabal prevents Tesla from having a direct sales office in the state and this also means you can't get the recently introduced $2,500 Texas EV rebate on a Tesla. https://www.autoblog.com/amp/2018/06...ates-are-back/ |
