I ran a 13.7 (can't remember the MPH off the top of my head) in my lightly modded 350Z (HR). At this point I'm confident that Big could take a stock 3.5L Z/G (maybe not an HR, but the 'regular' 350Z/G35 for sure)... which is really cool and says a lot, in my book. Heck, the G37 is so piggy I bet you are faster than one of those, as well.

HRs are quicker still - and once modded those cars are deep in the 13s and high 12s. He can take one stock for sure, maybe a lightly modded G35. But any modded HR is out of our range. They just have too much torque (about 230wtq) to overcome an advantage from a launch and and even at top end, they make as much as we do (stock Revups can make as much as 250whp - HRs 260whp+) But that’s the advantage of displacement. |

Just filled tank and pulled out of gas station up at a light next to a Infiniti q50s this morning. He drops his window and asks me if I want to go, actually says “Hey can we race, please?” Very nice guy, so how could I say no lol So I took him from a dig at the green light. I got a little jump on him at the light change and he wasn’t catching up, he started falling back around 70. Then I asked if we could try a roll from a 20 roll. Cars very evenly matched here from 20-70 neck and neck then I start slowly walking away. One last time we raced I got behind him at a light and when it changed we took off. I was able to pull from behind him into the lane next to him and get just even up with him by the time we hit 90ish and I backed off. Motor Trend specs on that car is: “The Q50 performed the 0-60-mph sprint in 5.2 seconds and kept running through the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds at 102.1 mph.” So this pretty much supports what I figured my car should be capable of around 5.2 seconds 0-60 and maybe ~13.7 1/4 mile with this set up. I feel like that was a respectable kill for the 328 N/A Last edited by Biginboca; 07-01-2018 at 02:53 PM.. |

You're my N52 benchmark in my BMW Facebook group. Buncha N54 assholes in there.
![]() You probably have the fastest daily N52 328i. It sounds like your car would beat an E46 M3 on a good day. |

I have to say I just really love this car. I think you guys feel the same about these cars and “get it”. I’ve actually heavily considered trading up to a e92m3 many times over the last year but every time I’ve test driven one (3 times) I’ve come away feeling like I just love my car more afterwards lol |

I also beat G35s and 350Zs pretty regularly on the highway in both the M3 and the 540. Lots of variables when you're racing in Mexico ![]()

That is a great point about the reliability and why I kept deciding to stick with this car and push it further. No rod bearing issues, no throttle body actuators, no valve adjustments, etc.
My car throws no codes and has been completely dependable. The only issue I’ve had is needing new back tires every 9k miles lol |

And it's not about peak power, but you could see gains over 10whp/tq in different parts of the power band. |

All our cars are slow as dirt! I assume none of us bought n52 cars thinking they are fast. For the price of my car I and what I’ve spent on mods I could have bought a mustang 5.0 that’s faster than a e92m3 in the quarter mile and turns the same lap and skid pad numbers. I like my car better though!
Any gains only make the car better of course, but there’s definitely more magic in these cars than speed. And no matter what you drive and what you do to it, there’s always someone going to pull up with something faster at the redlight. |

I sincerely doubt it, but what of that time you were fiddling with ethanol? (I can't remember if it was you though....) I hope you can get it sorted when Bob is tinkering!

It's something to do with running the car from ALFA N - to running with a MAF. My car did NOT like the updated tune with MILVS, likely because I had Bob change it to the "newer" or "proper" version of the ALFA N (the original tune, you couldn't apply the brakes and throttle at the same time) The car would drive fine at first and then go into limp mode, and you would have to reset the adaptations and start all over. Bob worked with me to get it sorted (above and beyond) but I put in the MAF sensor, and the car drove fine, so I left it. Anyhow, when I have dyno'd it since, the results have been....disappointing. Part of it is the shop having nothing in the way of cooling on what amounts to near 95+ degrees in the shop, the other is the car just is slower. (ran 14.X at 97mph which is far from what I did before, and doesn't make sense now that the car has a few more mods...) Just some quick data off the top of my head 246whp - Original "Alfa N" tune with FBO 236whp - Updated tune (newer version of the same tune, with the same mods - different, and hotter, day) 230whp - MILV ALFA N tune, MAF in and different day Car just is slow as shit, barely makes 200WTQ. I'll post the dynos (all 13 runs or so) when I have time. When the car worked, it worked - now it's a lot of noise to be barely faster than a Prius. ![]() |

What about using a MAF tune? What's the reason behind the MAF-less tunes, again?
No idea what your temps were like in previous testing but IMO temps can make a huge difference. I could easily see the same car doing 14.5 on a hot day vs. 14.2 on a cold one. Did the shop at least have a big fan blowing on your radiator? Hate to hear of your troubles. ![]()

Im running ALFA N w/ MILVs and I have the IAT sensor hooked up. And I CANNOT brake and throttle... I honestly FEEL slow, but IDK if I am just power hungry and used to where she sits now. I feel like she drags it after I pass 45mph..
