I have the Andream box and reverse camera installed and working on my e93 with CIC - really impressed with it.

Can confirm it uses the OEM microphone, but I have had to plug in to the AUX port for sound. It appears sometimes it is required, sometimes it isn't depending on your configuration.

How long does it take for cam to activate? Are you manual or automatic? Can you post a video?

I have an automatic. It is pretty instant - I reckon a second at the most . Will try and get a video once i've reassembled it all.

Switching to backup camera is not an issue once the carplay is booted up. The delay can be when you first start the car and the system is not yet fully booted up. CIC solves this issue by displaying the camera image while the system finishes booting in the background. Do the carplay systems do the same? I can't check as I am still on my factory camera.

I am looking for a unit, but it seems like there is a newer unit available on the market every 3-4 months, so I was inclined to wait. However, if this is performing in similar manner as any other stock units, then I might pull a trigger on it sooner than later.

Ahh that makes sense. Yeah, factory camera will display sooner as it is safety feature.

I did a test and the carplay reverse camera image displays before the system is fully booted. It may even be faster than cic backup camera. Please disregard my comments above.

But I do like the ability to save an address in google maps on my laptop. I can go to my car and select the saved places and start navigation. It is really nice when you need to go to multiple places in one trip.

I don't know about mirror mode. Apple's carplay is limited to official carplay apps.

All installation issues are resolved. Carplay and reverse camera have functionality.

Will post a description of the installation process later for anyone who may be considering getting an Andream or similar unit.

I'm going to be a bit more generous and go for a B+

I've just installed the Road Top version (because it was available on Amazon Prime next day delivery) to my 2012 E91 CIC iDrive.

It loses points for the sound quality being marginally worse than than using my phone plugged into the USB socket and for the skip / back buttons not working.

Apart from that it really is pretty good and carplay works just aswell as it does in our factory fitted 2017 Polo.

My phone auto connects wirelessly with no problem and the CarPlay screen is up before I leave the end of my drive.

Also I should have tested it in without fitting the cable to the iDrive controller as apparently it's not needed. Mine works fine with it in place but would have saved a bit of faffing running an extra bit of loom.

I just got my Andream MMI yesterday for my e92 w/ CIC.
I’ve connected everything, but keep getting the red screen when I push menu button.
I tried connecting the data wire from screen directly to MMI but no luck.
Any idea?

Hey I just received my Andream unit and I’m having some issues.

I’ve double and triple checked all connections, the menu and back button work to activate/deactivate the unit( hear a click from box and screens turn red/back to normal). I have 3-4 On switches, the rest off. I dismounted the screen to verify connection and also tried connecting screen directly to box with out extension. Would it be possible firmware? Faulty box? Really running out of ideas, any info you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance 🙏

I just installed one of these with a backup camera and the iDrive control isn’t working. It is completely dead. Switching it back to the factory cable directly restores functionality (but no MMI capability) so I know my controller is still good. Switches 3 and 4 are on rest are off. No error codes thrown. The CIC and steering wheel controls all work still. Is there something else I am supposed to connect besides the one iDrive harness to the power cable? the is a “high CAN” on the iDrive harness that isn’t connected to anything.

Hey guys i just installed a cic carplay unit into my e92 2011 and as i was trying to test if everything is working before putting everything back together the screen didnt seem to turn on but i could see the cic unit working and the carplay unit working anyone know why this could be?

Switch the video cables around until you get something on the screen.
