Did you just ask if a Chrysler product is reliable?
I'd say a used Japanese car is good, or if your kid won't need a car in college then just lease something. I drive like a shithead and was an even larger shithead at that age, best not to get anything remotely powerful or confidence-inspiring. My 15 yr old FWD Camry would slide in the wet because I cornered too fast, so I'd recommend AWD.
