It looks like there are a few of us expectant LCI parents. I've been calling the automated line since July, with the same 'scheduled for production without a date' message day after day. Then last week, I was thrilled to hear that my car was in production with an estimated completion date of 9/3. I just called again today, and I was told my car in the paint shop.

I placed my order back in June, and it has been a long wait. The idea that there is a car over in Munich with my name on it makes me smile. I'm looking forward to our daily tracking across the Atlantic.

From what I understand, once you have a VIN your car is truly being built. This is the best confirmation of all. Congrats!

Just think, you may not have anything else yet, but you now have your very own personal VIN and if you're really into causing punishment on yourself, you can go find a decoder for it on the web and see if the configuration matches what you thought you ordered. Next, we'll both be able to watch our ship on GPS and pray there are no stray icebergs in the way across the Atlantic or it gets stuck in the Panama Canal locks before it hits the PDC. Then we can worry about a car jockey or transport injuring our new prized possessions before we take delivery. We have so much to look forward to!
Good points all around and thanks for the congrats. I was dead set on getting this car fresh from the factory, so in that sense, I'm going to have to sleep in the bed I made.

The funny thing is that my wife just went through this same thing earlier this year. We ordered a Mini in February and had to wait until April for it to arrive. The arrival was delayed because the ship had some mechanical issues prior to crossing the Panama Canal. She was a nervous wreck for the last few weeks. I must admit that, while that was happening, I wasn't the most empathetic person to her. But now that the same thing is happening to me, I can absolutely understand where she's coming from. Karma, it's a bitch!

Does the automated system give you all of these updates?

Or do you need to speak to a Customer Service rep to get these details?

I've been getting my details from the automated system without needing to speak with anyone. I just give my production number under the Production Vehicle Status option.

That's cool. So the automated section tells you that your car is in the paint shop when it's left the assembly line?

+1
...and I'm in the body shop as of moments ago, so it's moving hour by hour.

production status

FWIW-

I ordered a 335 conv weeks ago because I missed the 08 allocations at the end of July. Saturday morning, I went down to the dealer to finalize some option decisions before production. I sat in non-sport seats to see if I could hack the lack of support. I compared jet black and sapphire (there was a 650 conv and M6 side by side). The sapphire looks sweet in the sun, but with the clouds and rain spots from the night before, it was hard to tell the difference, and I figured I would stick with Jet Black and save the $550.

So, we go back into his office and I tell him I will keep my original options, but wanted to add the logic 7 because it is no longer included. He looks my car up and it is already in 151. He said I cannot change options in this stage and confirmed with another CA. No biggie, I guess I save $900, right? He printed me out a sheet that had my VIN and production numbers, along with options and prices. I went home and checked the owners circle (entered VIN) which had my correct options/colors and a status 01 schedule for production. Oh, it says my model is unknown, but the sheet I have shows 335 cv.

anyways, just thought I would add my data point.

Dang, looks like the e93's are having the first go on the lines. Congrats on your car. Hopefully, we'll be on the same boat.

I never thought waiting would be this hard.
Yes, after reading your post I called and got my VIN also . I still don't understand why we can't input our production number or VIN into the system yet? I wish I could get an hourly report like some of the others... oh well, at least our car's are being built, a week early at that!

Wow, didn't know it would take so little time to put the car together.

as of today mine is at the body shop, will be completed tomorrow! This is the first time I've ever 'ordered' a car...I'm excited!

Don't mean to threadjack, but it looks like this thread is bringing all the newbies out. To those new to the forum, welcome! Hopefully, we'll all be getting our new cars soon (or at least we can commiserate the wait together).

Mine is at the body shop too.
Will be completed Sep 4th.

I ordered an E93 btw.

Can't get access to the BMW OC....it says my production number is not in the system yet.

Paint shop, ETA 9/3.

This thing needs to get here quick because the luck is running out on my lease. I just hit a 5 foot chunk of tire tread that did some damage to my front end. A few weeks ago, someone clipped my car in the parking garage at work. My car was in new condition, but now my lease end transaction looks to be expensive.

In my ignorance, I can't seem to find that phone number on the bmwusa.com site. Would you mind posting it?

1-800-831-1117 Say "Vehicle Production Status" to start your inquiry from there.

Thanks a million! I just called and my October ED is "scheduled for production with no production date". At least I know something now.

Say "Customer Service Representative". They will be able to tell you the production week, despite the automated system not knowing.

But, seriously, you have nothing to worry about. Since you have an ED date, that's the only date you care about! That date is fixed, and they WON'T miss it!

^ Yeah, all hell would break loose if they let customers plan their whole vacations and then not have a car.

ED production dates are easy. It takes about three days or so to make the actual car from start the finish. All of us non-ED peeps are stuck waiting on trains and ships, which accounts for 99% of the variability of our deliveries and 150% of our anxiety.

Appreciate the further advice on squeezing information blood out of the BMWNA turnip.

They should let you arrive at the factory three days earlier and watch your car being made. Now that would really sweeten the ED deal!

Oh, you and I share too many things in common. I completely agree on the anxiety level. Instead of checking the forum 3-5 times a day for info as I was the last 6 weeks, now I'm just calling the 800 number twice a day to see what's changed with my E93 (in paint shop all day today with completion scheduled for tomorrow)... Guess I won't be able to bug the 800 number much longer once we hit that ship. I will though find the ship site and start watching the GPS tracker instead.
