what is the replacement air filter for this air intake? it says it is a Sport Air Filter. Is it re-usable? or can it be rejuvenated with chemicals? where can I get replacements?

OK.. once I install this Air Intake, I got to source my own air filter element? Right? Since the standard air element is to be replaced every 3rd oil change (3rd year) or 54K (which is utterly absurd) as per CBS, what is the schedule for the "Sport" air filter element replacement? The instruction's pdf says to disregard the "standard" air filter element and use the "Sport" element that came with the unit, which appears to be darker in color. Where can I get the "Sport" air filter element replacements? Or can I use aftermarket high performance dry elements? i.e. K&N?

Performance air filter is oil impregnated.
There is no charcoal impregnated engine air filter. The OEM air filter is dry paper, the Performance Air Intake is oil impregnated. K/N also makes one that is oil impregnated cloth filter. The air filter size is still OEM, since you are retaining the original air box where the filter is mounted on.

The gain in the Performance Air Intake is not more than 3% tops physically but in your heart it feels exhilarating. What you get is a very beautiful carbon fiber air duct right at the front of the engine, the duct pathways is less restricted but you are still retaining the OEM air box, so the effective increase in filter area is nil.

Thanks for the comments. It was easy to install the BMW Performance Air Intake, and only you know that you got it under the hood.... Not even your significant other will be suspicious .... and remember the actual gains in performance is only in your heart!!!
PS: for replacement air filter I use oil impregnated synthetic fabric air filter by K/N. Every time I bring in for CBS (condition based service) at dealership I have to argue with service manager that I don't want them to replace the air filter element... they are really retards since this is made a genuine BMW aftermarket vendor in UK!!! The CBS interval for air filter element replacement is every THIRD oil replacement, that means every 50K miles or about three years... and that is CRAZY. I washed the filter every year and according to my driving habits it seemed to be more than adequate. I have driven to north to Prince Edward Is, Halifax and south all the down to Vero Beach.
