Do you mean adding step paddles to the M3 wheel without cutting? I recall that there was one person that did this, and he said that it seemed to work fairly well. I considered not cutting the wheel for the step paddles, but what happens is that the paddles will sit further back from the wheel (closer to the dash), which will change the spacing a bit. It's probably more significant for the push-downshift, than it is for the pull-upshift.

U can see the spacing if you don't want to cut a bigger hole.

What you can't see is how much further back the paddles are compared to a stock step paddle setup and wheel. Based on the amount of cutting I did, I would say it's about 1/4 inch or so.

Can you leave the step paddles disconnected. Does that throw an error ? I have paddles on other cars that i never use - too used to driving stick mostly, so prefer shifting with the lever in an auto.
