Just depends how you want to go about it--the 1.2 map on the JB3 has a lag-fix option. I haven't ordered mine yet--maybe others can chime in on how well it works.

With that being said, I would not anticipate the new software from BMW being the holy grail of lag-fix. Hell it took BMW months and months to even admit that they had introduced lag into the car in order to save money on wastegate rattling.

If you don't mind taking the JB3 in and out--I would go ahead and get it, and then take your car to the dealer once the lag-fix Progman is available. If you get the PnP, and know what you are doing, the module can be put in or taken out in about half an hour.

So if the jb3 fixes the lag there is no reason for the bmw update? However, bmw might add something besides that to the update or does the jb3 bypass the stock ecu completely?
If you bought the JB3 within 90 days you get free updates.

Basically. The chip holds new software or MAPS. The 1.2 has the old 1.1 map but a whole other bunch of maps aswell.(racing, lagfix, hot maps) You can check out N54tech for more info.

You can take the part about the 29.2 out, because now BMS doesnt ask no more, there all come one way.
