1987 Pontiac 6000
My father liked them so much that I used his with 200k+ miles when I turned 16, and he bought another one. It got me from a-to-b, but towards the end, I had to keep my foot on the brake and gas when at a stop or the engine would quit and not start until it cooled down. We never figured out the reason, but that was pre-Internet. |

2000 gmc sierra 1500. It was my step-dad's truck. Senior year highschool I was on my way to grab my little brothers from the bus stop with my then girlfriend, now fiance. Thought I would show off a little so a throttled down on a bank unknowing that the roads were pretty wet. Rear end went out, front end into a ditch, spun around to where the backend was now in the ditch. Backend then hit a stump and spun us once more front end first into that ditch lol. No injuries, but the backend was totaled, broke the rear axle in half. Got home, step dad says you just bought it lmao. We rebuilt the back end, salvaged a bed from a junk yard, and put a custom paint job on her once all the body work was done (all by our selves). Was actually a great experience besides the bill at the end of the day!

Just before my 16th birthday I had saved enough from a dishwashing job to buy my first car - a 1990 Ford Probe with popup headlights, a sunroof and 5 MT. She wasn't pretty but it was the first manual car I drove and I learned a lot about maintenance in the years I owned it.

First car I paid for myself was a used Mercedes 190D with 250K miles on it. I used to joke that it was 0-60 in a week and a half; then a while back I looked it up: I was close; 0-60 in 26 seconds!!! And that doesn't count the time waiting for the glow plugs to heat up before starting the car.

My first car was a 1957 Chevy model 210, 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree. Purchasing it was cheap but the insurance killed it for me.

Mine was a light blue-green 1964 Chevy Impala with the 409 and a column shifter. Burned rubber for days, but wrapped it around a tree taking a turn on the rapidly balding tires on wet-leaved pavement one night... The foibles of youth.

88 RX7 GXL, had 11 shades of white on its paint
Had it for 3 months before the apex seals went, and at that point I'm out of money as a broke high schooler, don't think I had it ever running 100% considering its been sitting in a parking spot for about 7 years before I offered to take it

My first new car titled under my name was a 1992 Honda Civic DX sedan in white.
Just like in the picture except mine had a factory rear wing! To give it downforce, because of it's high velocity! |

1973 Opel Manta, brand new, $3000 including the just released Radial T/A 60 series tires. As the emissions controls were just starting, GM decided to meet the new standards by dropping the compression ratio from 9.0 to 7.6 to 1. 75 mighty HP.....but incredibly fun to drive. light, quick steering, nice shifter, and I thought good looking. Maybe most FUN car I ever owned.
