It's the same mentality this Porsche driver had. If it wasn't for the McLaren Senna, I would have been stuck behind him the rest of the lap, and half the next one. This is how one idiot car ruin your track day. On track or on the street, just MOVE OVER for faster traffic.

That Senna is GONE!

What were you in? The 'Maro?

Some of you are not understanding the scenario I'm talking about and that's fine.

You have a speeding car approach you very fast. If you merge to the right sometimes they will do so before you can do it safely which is why I'm prompting the question.

It's not a big deal anyways - I always get over for the most part

You're on a residential street with 4 lanes, you need to turn left a few minutes ahead, you're going the speed limit + 5 to 10 mph, traffic is heavy. And there are often police with radar on the street.

If you move to the right for the person you're likely to miss your chance to turn left and have to go beyond and turn around to come back to the turning you missed.

Do you move over and have to find a way to double back, do you speed up and risk getting pulled, do you let the person get high blood pressure until they can get around you on the right?
Left lane for passing does not apply to residential or even arterial streets. Even some limited access highways have left exits. You adjust accordingly

If they can merge right before you can, the lane to the right of you is clear which means you should have been in that lane and not the left lane.

Put your right blinker on and wait a couple of seconds to give him time so he will see what you're planning to do, then safely merge into the right lane.

And if their winders are open, see if you can time them bags of dog doodoo right into their cab as they pass by.

Do you change lanes immediately or do you get pissed and let him / her pass you? Keep in mind they don't give you anytime to move over...they just start riding your ass immediately.
I haven't read most of this thread... but.... the title of the thread starts with "passing lane...." which means you should ONLY be in that lane when you're actively passing. If you're not actively passing someone, you need to move over regardless of if someone's coming up behind you or not. And no, active passing isn't you seeing a car half a mile up ahead and you're driving fast so you're gonna stay in the passing lane. Active passing means it takes a few seconds to pass and you're back in the right lane again. It irks me anytime I see someone cruising in the passing lane regardless of traffic conditions or speed of travel.

This is why we can't have roads like the autobahn here in the US.

we are understanding it fine.

you seem to not understand basic laws of etiquette. you being oblivious to cars around/behind you doesnt change anything other than maybe you should not be driving.

left lane = passing lane

neighbors trash can = their trash

Didn't watch the video, but I consciously use my blinker 99% of the time knowing the reputation of BMW drivers. I've had passengers say to me "hey, you actually use your blinkers!" Which I think is pretty funny.

...and as if a M2 is such a 'lowly' car. We already have enough hateful prejudice irl, one would think they go to the racetrack to get away from it all and just have some fun. That P-car driver is such a jerk.

Grandpa driving the Porsche is either ignoring the mirrors all together or is driving his race no matter what. BTW, I take pride in using my turn signal all the time, I believe that driving is a skill not a chore.

i hate when people tailgate me when i am just waiting to pass safely. but everyone is an asshole.

i tend to leave massive gaps in the left lane is someone is not moving over which leads me to get tailgated, as if pressing the person is goin to make them move over faster. honeslty i view the road as a RB on a football field no sense in getting that close to your "blockers" especially when you have an f80 which is a passing machine.

obvs once space opens up

bye bye :

edit: the only time i discriminate by car is if you are driving something nice and not like an asshole (weaving dangerously) i will play cat and mouse.

EVERYONE else i try to stay away from as much as possible. whether it be leaving them in the dust or hanging behind them. I honeslty have zero faith in the american public to drive. the entitlement in this country is off the charts. and this is why the left lane problem exisists.

PASS or MOVE OVER so simple. but AMERIKAAAAAAAAAAAA

By leaving a massive gap, you essentially become the left lane hog instead of the person in front of you.

Yep - that's exactly right. I leave a large gap also because I hate tailgating people.

And that's the situation I'm talking about - waiting to pass safely but some jerk is tailgating you and when you change lanes they do so first and almost rear end you.

Glad you understand where I'm coming from!

Conversely, in the school drop-off line this morning, in what's supposed to be a single file line, you've got people driving around cars once their kid is out, and that carries the real possibility of hitting a child. THAT'S dangerous.
