A lot of companies don't want to get in trouble with the EPA. For example, Ecutek pointed to the new gen twins "only" selling 8100 cars for the 2022 MY They still haven't cracked the ECU and it's been in customer hands for 10 months now.
My comment was related to comparing tuning options only being available on the GR Yaris right now. Who knows though, maybe adding the GR Corolla won't add more tuning options but greater numbers of this engine being out there should bring more people pushing for tuning options.

yeah companies are definitely cracking down. but there's also stuff thats very low production, companies aren't going to spend a ton of money cracking an ecu for a low production model if only a few people buy it. it would also be terribly expensive. supercar owners can shell out thousands for a 93 octane tune but not a corolla buyer.

i'd love for them to crack the lc500 ecu and give the 2018s the updated 2020+ shift logic but it probably won't ever happen.

That was my point.

I suspect if a tune became available for the Corolla many would buy it, but the companies have to determine if it's financially viable to do so. And that's only going to get more difficult.

Probably someone from 1990 that thinks you can still get a good performance car with a few options for 30K.

It's actually pretty reasonable, I think. AWD, turbo hot hatch.

My '23 BRZ Limited with STi shifter was $33k.

I dig it. Nice hot hatch to rival the now bloated GTI

Not sure I'd call the Mk8 GTI bloated, C&D lists the DSG Autobahn as 3,154 lbs, that's in line with Mk7 and lighter than the Mk5 and Mk6. Now my inbound Mk8 R is pushy, probably a little over 3,400 pounds.

I'd consider a GRolla if I thought I could get one for sticker. The Golf R certainly has more tuning potential, but stock for stock, the GRolla probably has an advantage with its more aggressive awd setup.

Lol Donatello…classic GR hating comment.

Gotta say, at least you're consistent.

IMO pricing is on point. Little high for the Morizo.

Seems very understeer-y.

Happy they're making it though. The more ICE MT enthusiast cars on the market, the better.

GRM's track review said in the 60/40 it is, but is much better in the track 30/70 power split.

I put more trust in guys that been driving competitively and winning stuff and writing magazines, than YT personalities.

I just don't like the idea of a 3 cylinder being stressed that much. But 3 cylinders have less vibration than a 4 cylinder. This is no different than a 87-88 Mazda GTX that was 13K which for the time was a lot.

Supply and demand, a lot of dealerships asking and receiving more than this. Welcome to the world of online auctions, all it takes is one or two people with funny money and a desire to own that specific car.

Approaching used M2 territory with GR Corolla markups but there is not a new BMW sub $65K that interests me.

Goodness I don't think Toyota could have designed a cheaper looking interior if they tried. I know that's not the priority but these cars but I can't remember an interior this cheap ever for any car in this price range.

& I got many folks here telling me I just don't get it. No, I don't get $40-50k for a Corolla interior. A fool and his $ are soon parted.

I bet most of those folks didn't buy one, though. Yay keyboard commandos
