It was just a matter of time since the M3 would use a S-charger and kick our asses...

For twice the price let's hope it would Compare 45k MSRP + under 2k in tune/downpipes/intake for 400whp, or 70k + 20k+ in tuning = 90k to be 600whp...

very good point, I was thinking the same. People should just stop comparing....but you know that will never happen

theres a fully loaded m3 on ebay for 53,900 with under a 100 miles on it.Add a 3k dollar lsd,and 2k for a suspention and the prices are not that far off.

so 54k+15k installed and you can have a 600whp car.No one is paying 70k for an m3 in this market.

If I really wanted to be hip and this and that, I would just get a used M6/M5, you have a lot of power and you still have maitenance. And costs will be the same.
Will you stop posting on this site already? From viewing one page of your old posts you have contributed nothing but bad language, criticism of the 335i and promoted drug use. I think you'd fit in better on the e46 forums.

I'm a little dumbfounded with all those pointing out the cost advantage of the 335 to the M3. It is true that the 335 might be a better bargain than the m3 and your modding dollars might yield a better ROI. But some people want the best they could afford even though that might be spending proportionally more just to have a slight edge. At times, some people might even spend a lot more just to have something they perceive to be better.

Here’s a simple test: assuming that you know of a $10k high quality counterfeit Rolex watch that a jeweler would have a hard time telling is fake; would you buy the real one even though it cost $25k? I know for a fact that there will be people on both sides of the aisle.

Also, the 335 isn’t exactly cheap. I just built a fully-optioned 335 sedan for $58,395 which is more than the $56K starting price of the M3 sedan. For the price of either car you could buy cars that will be way faster when modified like E36 M3, STI, bike etc. Where do you draw the line?

I say be happy with what you have because there will always be cars that are faster than yours. What is financially relevant to you might be irrelevant to the next person.

335 vs E9x M3 moot point... A fully built out 335 will never be as fast as a fully built out M3. Whats the point in arguing?

Doesn't matter. When you start with a 414hp engine 4.0L, it will always be able to make more than a 3.0L that is already boosted to .5 bar to make 306... Take the turbos off, and its a standard M54 from the E46 330i so what 225hp? 225hp vs 414hp before you start anything. Good luck.

Look at the dyno above, thats only .5 bar simply bolted on the 4.0L, 600whp and they aren't even in the engine. Simple bolt on SC on pump fuel.

Show me a 335i with every mod made, hell, throw in bigass turbo upgrades not even out yet, and get me 600whp... Heck, rebuild the motor to 9.0 CR, stroke it to 3.2, and boost it to a full bar or more if you can pack it in... might see 600 at the crank if you are REALLY lucky and pour race fuel in... The engine simply isnt built for it.

Now take the 4.0L making 700hp+ on .5 bar, lower the CR, stroke it, and boost it up to a bar or more, oh and why not put in meth, race fuel, etc.... 1000hp anyone?

No match for any 335i. Outside of putting the 4.0L in one, lol...

Kinda defeats the purpose of arguing about it. The M3 can always make more.

A tuned 335i can run with a stock M3. Mod the M3? It's over.

No difference than it was with the E46s...

Merry Christmas!

Looks like we're going to be seeing the dyno numbers on this beast pretty soon... damn it sounds like pure sex! Anyone want to take a guess on the numbers?
