The problem happened today. No sound, but all the radio displays worked. I took off my seatbelt and waited for the chime to sound. Once the chime sounded the radio sound was back on.

I heard from Customer Relations at NA HQ and yes, they confirmed that a bulletin is pending and they (engineers) are working on a software fix.

Keeping fingers crossed for a quick (and permanent) fix.

That would be nice, pass it along if you can get your hands on it. I called BMW NA today and told them I didnt want to drive 3 hours to bring my 328 in if they didn't have a fix. The two guys I spoke to today did not bother to check into the bulletin.

Mine is stuck on aux. But wont play through iPod. Also wont change to CD or Tuner. Audio crapping out on me has happened twice. Both times I left my iPod plugged in overnight.

just happened to me (it had previously happened a couple months ago). Haven't spoken to dealer. My car has the standard radio- no ipod, hd, l7 or any options related to sound. It was 70 degrees this morning, so i think weather has nothing to do with it.

My 09 e92 is doing this also......randomly like every few weeks.... no chime no radio no ipod. But I found out if you open the driver door and drive a little, like down your drive way; the chime starts then the radio will work again...really weird.

Yes, that is what I was told. The software dealing with system startup has a bug.

Well first drive the car with the closed door a few feet in your driveway. Then open it while your driving for a few more feet & leave it open until the chime starts.... then close the door, It should work. Well for at least mine.

I tried this technique when my radio didn't work again this morning but it didn't help

I can't believe something as stupid as a radio not turning on is happening in a so called luxury car. Do Kias and Hyundais even have this kind of problem?!?

LOL- funny as that statement sounds, it's probably true. I have never had any eletronics problems with any of my jap cars. BMW's service and customer care line SUCK- unfortunately I have this problem.

I'll have to try the "drive down the driveway" method next time. My stereo has been doing the same on occassion, today being another one. I have turned off the car twice and it came back on, but another 5-7 times I wasn't so lucky.
I took it to the dealer last week. They kept it for two days only to say that they couldn't duplicate the problem.

Funny they didn't mention anything about maybe hearing it is a known problem. My SA said it was my imagination. You know, I imagine my stereo doesn't work, cause I LOVE to drive in total silence at 4 in the AM to work. I need to find a new dealership to take my car to.

You could show your SA this thread and ask him if every post on this radio thread is in his imagination or better yet ask him if he thinks that everybody who posted has nothing better to do than sit around and make up posts to this thread about our radios not working!

I hate the stealers, they don't get it and never will.

I'm amazed that you have a SA that cares enough to look into this and provide you with this info. I didn't get squat from BMW corp or my dealer.
