I think its time that Koenigsegg starts mass producing their revolutionary gearbox to allow everyone the choice between manual & auto depending on their mood in the drivers seat...

While this announcement really doesn't really promise too much beyond continuing the MT for the current generation G87 and G8X, I'm always happy for ANY positive press or support for MTs!

We offered to teach him and let him try but he didn’t want to “waste time.”
I say if you have never tried it or learned it then your opinion serves little to me. I owned an F80 DCT and loved it but most likely moving to the G80 I will opt for the manual. |

[QUOTE=picaso;29453129]I drove a friends m2 in manual, and I am sorry to say, I hated it so much. The clutch was so light and the first gear was a pain to deal with and took sometime to get used to. I was very surprised coming from a Toyota the lack of crisp shifts.
While I agree it's not the best, I'm not sure what you mean by first being a pain. I usually hear complaints about 1-->2 in every bmw going back to the start of time, but that's something you quickly get used to and drive around.

They all have a fairly lifeless, rubbery MT vs some Japanese companies (s2000, Type R, Miata). Not the best, certainly not the worst, consistently the same. But hey, it's an option not available from most manufacturers, so I'll take what I can get. |

Absolutely....I dont think its getting the credit it deserves. Its truly an engineering masterpiece and i hope others try to replicate this gearbox at a price tag much lower than $3.65 million.

On the other hand I drove a 2017 Porsche, I was taken aback how heavy the clutch was, but I immediately was able to adapt and felt I've been driving it for months, same with a Honda (meant Honda not toyota) I drove. I think I went into driving the BMW thinking it would be similar or some positive variation. I was kinda let down tbh |

None taken, I learned driving manual in Finland, only way to get a license unless disabled. Never drove an automatic till I lived in the USA, so I have a feeling I have more of an experience driving manual than most, granted it doesn't mean I'm automatically great at it. I'd like to believe I'm though considering I track/race in manual and put in decent times if I must say. You forget the fact this is isolated to just the BMW m2, no other car (ok I lie, stalled on the 992 gt3 with the single mass flywheel, but so did professional auto journalist the first time), honestly with time one will get used to it, but it took longer than I'd have liked and did not like the springy feel of the shift. Why you chose to highlight one aspect without taking into account the context is strange. But oh well this is the internet. |

With the gt3 all you had to do was give it more revs, it hated low revs, with the m2, it was so hard to find that point, had to use more muscle memory than feel. I don't know if that makes sense. |
