It's a nice to have but you're not missing anything
Cool, maybe once I get a bimmercode adapter I'll give it a try

I have a 12" sub running on 1000watts and would like to upgrade the remaining speakers as they can sound like crap at times. I don't want to bother with the OEM+ stuff being it seems way overpriced. Have you guys upgraded speakers at all? I had good luck with Dayton Audio in a component setup in my BRZ.

Factory speakers here. Listened to NPR the whole way to work this morning and everything was crystal clear, even with the moonroof vented.

I can't seem to get the 5-blink option working. It tells me that it codes the CPU and when I test it, it's still only 3. I tried it a number of times and had no luck. Any advice since most of you seem to have gotten it to work? Also, the Auto-Start memory and Auto-Start stop tell me that they get an error coding the CPU. I am using the same wi-fi OBD2 connector that a lot of you are using and the rest of the coding seems to work just fine.

For the 5blink option - it creates another selectable option under "exterior lighting" IIRC. The coding works, you just need to change it from 3 to 5. I'm getting the same error trying to code Auto Stop/Start though, using vpeak WiFi obd2 adapter??

FWIW - I used an older E-Sys ethernet adapter I used on my previous F30.
With an Ethernet to USB-C adapter plugged into an iPAD.
Worked perfectly. Including for ASS.
I did an iDrive reboot after coding - just out of habit. (the 30 second press). Wanted to make sure iDrive does come back and no surprises next day.
That being said - I also tried a kiwi3 BT adapter and seemed to work fine. Did not code with it though.

Thanks for shedding the light on the blinker "issue".

This is the one I am using.

If you enter "BimmerCode" in the search box in the Apple store, it will tell you (I can't advise because, as an owner, it only shows 'OPEN')

Is there an adapter that works for both bimmercode and bimmerlink?

Do either allow full-time open exhaust flap, where it remembers the setting so you don't have to redo it each time?

Dont know about the universal adapter (I use ODBLinkCX for BC)

Bimmercode can give option to set the exhaust flaps always open in Expert mode and gives you a "Sporty" radio button to select it. It is retained after the car is shut down and restarted

In the US App Store, it doesn't tell you. It says FREE with the option of In App Purchase.

Thanks! Is Android pricing the same? My main phone is Apple but I have an inactive Android phone at home that I use for resetting my BMW motorcycle (MotoScan).

Edit: I took out my Android phone and downloaded the BimmerCode app. The price of the full version is $44.99.

I wonder why it’s more expensive compared to the iOS version. Does it have more functionality?

Yes, it sounds considerably worse. Since the car doesn’t have the B&W hardware everything sounds overly compressed and over processed. If you are in any way an audiophile or into good sound you will not like it.

The HK system is a $850 option, you would think they would want it to sound its best. It’s OK I am used to being the outlier when discussing audio. Most people think Beats and Bose sound good…

I used the G20 first and then checked 3/M3 but got the same options, using a VeePeak BT BLE+ with a Pixel 7 Android phone.
Coded out the ASS and welcome msg, coded in the B&W sound profiles, that's enough for me.
Hope this helps, like said, stay out of "expert" areas unless you know what you're doing.

Today I've decided to dive into this BimmerCode coding. The main thing I wanted to do is code out the Auto Start/Stop (ASS) - the rest is gravy.

First, I gather my existing devices which I use for my BMW motorcycle:
  • TCL Phone w/ Android 8.1
  • OBDLink LX
Secondly, I purchased the full version of BimmerCode for $44.99 (as of March 2023).

My car specs:
  • 2023 M240i RWD
  • iDrive 8 version 11/2022.60
I'm sad and disappointed to report that the ASS coding was a FAIL. I was able to code it and get a "coding successful" report but nothing really happens. I even tried it twice. The car DOES NOT remember my last setting.

Has anybody here with the exact same specs as mine successful in coding the ASS setting?

I found this video on YouTube. It's a 3-series with iD8 and he has the same issue with the ASS setting and shows it in the video. The solution or workaround is coding the Default Driving Mode to Sport Individual and then selecting your preferred Sport Individual settings. In this case, all in Comfort.

Yes coding Sport or Sport Individual automatically defaults to ASS off. Did this in the wife's ID8 330i, no problems

The majority of people do not care about nor are aware of audio quality beyond what the typical car provides so BMW doesn't focus on spending crazy $ on audio. For the average Joe, the HK system sounds fine. Granted, I want to replace most of it, but it's good enough.

I am an audiophile and I think it’s fine. I am not in my car enough to replace anything. I work from home and am about to replace a 2020 M340, it has 13K miles. When I look at the options for upgrading the audio they are all obscenely overpriced and not worth it. With that being said if BMW could make the system sound a lot better doing a software tweak that cost them nothing why wouldn’t they do it?
