Thats the reason.
Can you confirm if the cdv mod will eliminate the judder when pulling of in first gear please. I have had the software 'upgrade' last september and whilst it did make a difference to the way the car drives it didn't fix the judder issue that it went into the dealer for. Cheers Shaun |

Before I modified the CDV I would get clutch judder when pulling away before the car warmed up but it seemed ok when warm. Now I still get occasional juddering but not to the same extent as before and the clutch does feel better to use. I have never been in another E9x to experience anyone elses clutch judder/vibration so I am not sure what I get is the same as others describe, some people describe it as something more severe than what I think I had
Sorry to Neil@juiced but there is no need to buy one when you can do the same easily and for free on your own CDV, unless I am missing something... Last edited by JaySTee; 03-16-2011 at 06:04 AM.. |

Clutch judder is a different problem. Getting rid of your CDV eradicates that awful feeling of incremental clutch release, so when you have a CDV and you release teh clutch it sort of stutters.

I have heard that the clutch judder could be caused by the soft engine mounts used to keep diesel noise/vibration down in conjunction with an inline engine/gearbox letting the whole twist and release when pulling away... Can't remember now where I read it though... Or a knackered dual mass flywheel?

I'm sceptical about software fixing things, but at least by going through the motions it's keeping it fresh in the dealers minds and suggests BMW HQ are still looking into things. I've got the dealer to keep a reminder on their system (so I don't have to explain things all over again) and they asked me to call them end of April to arrange a re-program. And who knows, maybe it'll work |

As I understand the fix is more a mask of the problem like upping the revs. |

I'm intruiged to see what this new s/ware update is, I've already had the upping-revs one which had no effect.
