The deal is done and the payment all sorted

So a week tomorrow I'll have a 507hp beast! The best bit is that I've just saved myself £200 per month in payments...which will no doubt be sunk straight back into the fuel tank

Now, I have one question and hopefully someone can shed some light. As it's '06 it has the older type of idrive with no shortcut buttons. It also has a factory fitted cd changer. Does anyone know if BMW CD changers from '06 are MP3 compatible? If not, do you think the new ones which are will fit straight in?

You nutter ! Well done, look forward to hearing what you think of it mate. Not that I was looking yesterday , but I'm guessing extended leather isn't the same as full leather (leather dashboard)? Rather nice Silverstone M6 on there at the mo

Easy come easy go... but yes, it propably will eat most of that £200, but will be bloody good fun at the same time!

Not sure, my 535d had the same but I swapped the changer for an iPod interface (which needed the iDrive updating)

No, extended leather is just half way up the dash and a fabric headlining much like extended leathe rin M3's. Only the full leather has the dash top and alcantara headlining. How sad that I already know all of this!

Did your 535d actually have a cd changer; if so, do you know if that read MP3's?

Never used the changer, as the dealer swapped it for the iPod connection before I got it... sorry.

If it's the same one that is used in the 5 series (in my 5 it's part of media pack 08 reg) then i'm pretty sure it wont play mp3 cd in the changer, but the one in the dash does.

Fantastic. What an amazing car especially at the prices these days.

I'm confused by the 'full leather'. Surely it's more than just the top half of the dash covered??? It's a £5k option!!! The Alcantara rooflining on my 335i only cost £195ish as an option so can't be that adding to the cost. To upgrade to leather on a 3 series is only just over £1k. Are the door inlays also leather??? I'd expect the roof, floors, doors, even the windows, to be cover in leather for £5k (given that 'normal' leather is standard). A great option to have given that someone else paid the premium but interested in excatly what you get.

I think it like this:

Standard - Extended Leather
Seats, lower door trims, lower dash, centre console all in leather

Option - Full leather
As above but upper dash, upper door trims - basically everything else that's plastic covered in leather.

With regards to the headlining, on the 335i the alcantara is a colour change (I think it's called anthracite).

The M6 with full leather, the headlining is made out of suede so it's still a form of leather.

I guess I can confirm properly when I get it....just 8 days to go.

OMG - his dash was flashing to indicate that his bonnet was opening when he got above 200mph.

Do you think the airflow would have pushed the leading edge of the bonnet up that much to indicate that on his dash?

Just watched a repeat of TopGear on Dave.

IOM: Aston Vantage, BMW M6 & Carrera 2S. They all liked the power and noise of the M6 and said it was comfortable.

The part of the IOM mountain circuit they used (in the pouring rain), the Carrera was the quickest, followed by the M6, then the Aston. Clarkson defo liked the M6 and it is more practical than the Porker.

Would have been interesting to see how the cars faired over the whole of the TT course. Think the results may have been different perhaps as there's plenty of long straights where you could really use the power of the M6.

Be good if we could do a lap of the circuit!

Wasn't because of the weather Carlos. Both rear wheel drive with copious amounts of driver aids. They only did a shortish run which suited the Porsche chassis more. As I said would be interesting over the whole of the TT circuit.
