![]() Problem is working out how tinted the stock windows are already. If they are already 10% tinted at the factory, then only 20% can be legally applied - thats how I read it? |

Otherwise he'd be risking his livelihood every job he did. If the factory tint reduces light by 10% then its a 90% tint in tinting terms. (tint figures refer to the % of light let through rather than the % of light blocked) You could darken a factory 90 tint to a legal limit 70 tint by applying 77 tint (i.e. 90% from clear is now your starting 100% for reduction purposes, thus 70% from clear is 77% of 90% from clear, d'ya get me?) You can't trust tint 'ratings' you'd have to measure it as VOSA wouldn't give a shit what your tint said on the packet if it came out too dark. |

Excellent advice, thanks for that
![]() I will visit a tint shop later in the week and see what equipment they use and get a costing. It's only the two fronts so shouldn't be too expensive. |

Paul, i think i had 20% on my front windows the problem is whatever tint you put on the front windows it will be illegal because if you put a light meter on the glass untinted it doesn't come out at 100% something to do with the glass etc.. I saw it on a police programme a bit ago.
Its not illegal to tint your front windows its illegal to drive on the public highway with them tinted that's why most companies get you to sign a disclaimer to remove the blame from them even mine said it was for 'off road use only' ![]() ![]() i had my last car tinted and i never got pulled over regarding the windows and neither have i in this car, my mum has her car windows tinted and has never been pulled over. I think your pretty safe as long as you don't take the piss and have them limo black or its obvious the tints are reducing your vision ![]() ![]() At work where my car is parked everyday it can be seen clearly from the main road (A34 Walsall) dozens of police cars including traffic cars and unmarked drive past everyday and you can clearly see ive got the front windows tinted and they haven't looked twice! ![]() I think most of the time they have got better things to do! Have it done it will look great ![]() ![]() OT but there is a new LCI E90 unmarked silver (330i i think) car around Walsall and it looks evil with the lights flashing when it steams past! |
