I know and thought the same thing, but it was there for sure on 7/1. Too many cars ahead of me? Bummer, unless for some reason my information has not yet been updated yet. . . slim hope. Anyway, thanks for the reply as it helps to complain.

Need some help. No word from my dealer except that the ship (no name) is due to arrive in New York 7/24/09. The OC and the 1-800 still show my car sitting at the port awaiting transport and the shipping site doesn't give me anything but "no records found" when I enter my VIN. What gives? I asked the dealer for the name of the ship, but no reply yet. What gives?

OK, maybe it is my CA, but the 800 # finally says that my car is in transit; I guess from the information I can gather that the car is on the Undine scheduled to arrive 7/25/09; the CA says that the car will be in the port in NY on 7/24, but he cannot tell me the ship; he suggested that once the OC is updated then the ship info is available and only then; from all I read this is not correct and he could find out now through his tracking sysytem; and he is a really good guy, but is he correct? My VIN still does not show on the WW shipping site. What's up???

Thanks for your reply, I knew my CA was not getting it, the OC doesn't gice me ship info. Checking the WW site I see the Undine coming in on 7/25 so I suspect that is the reason he tells me 7/24 -- maybe he shows it coming in then a little earlier than what I see on the site. But if it is coming in on another shipping line, how can I track that? Sounds like my CA is totally out of the loop, but can I get around him otherwise and get the info? Thanks again for your reply, much appreciated.

When I was tracking my car, the only shipping company where you can track via VIN is WW. If you're on another company vessel, then you're basically out of luck unless you can find the name of the boat you're on. If you really can't find it on WW it can mean 2 things 1) it's not on a boat yet or 2) the ship it's on is not a WW vessel.
Like I mentioned above, although WW vessels seem to be most commonly used, there are other shipping companies too. The North Carolina Shipping Company vessel is what was used to transport my car. Their boats always end with the name "highway" e.g my boat was the "shanghai highway". If you're CA "knows" when the car will dock, then he must know what the name of the ship is. If he doesn't then he either isn't a good CA or he's just BS'ing you about the docking date. Regarding OC, if your car is truly on a boat, typically the OC will update in 3-4 days. If it hasn't updated to enroute, then you my friend, are probably not on a boat yet. So to make a long story short, if your CA can't provide you with a boat name and you can't find your VIN through WW, then you're basically screwed of being able to track the car. |
