Not to confuse the issue but CA also = Comfort Access.

But back to the OP, I'm ashamed that this guy is from the Bay Area too.

Gives us a bad name in N. CA.

Well, I didn't bring that up because I didn't want to confuse the original poster further

Tax is collected in the state you live in. The government always gets their money.

Except where there is no tax, like Oregon.

I think you guys must have driven thread starter to put a gun to his head.. In 3 pages, hasnt even responded once to your posts, has he? For all he paid for his 330, he could have probably bought a brand new E46 M3, or close to it! Man, what a decision..

That is an awesome deal. Which dealer did you buy from? How did you manage to get them to do down from MSRP?

It has almost every options. excepts PDC, REAR, SUNSHADE and ACTIVE CRUISE.

I went to dealer to trade my 330i to new 335i Sedan. Dealer was asking almost 15K including tax and license after trading my 2 months old baby.

WTF..

I paid 49700 about two months ago including tax & lic.
Now trading value is only 35K

That means I wasted about 7K in a month.

forget it.

I am pissed...........

What was the car worth without Tax & Lic?

The dealership knows that if you buy a new car and 2 months later you want a better one that you're making an emotional decision and as we all know when you use emotion to make decisions you put yourself in a position where you can get taken advantage of. Plus there's the fact that if you buy a new car and sell it less then a year later, NO ONE is going to want to buy it if you only get 1K - 3K off what you could buy a brand new one for. That's why the new car depreciates so much the first couple of years because no one will buy it unless there is a discount good enough to make it an attractive deal, otherwise they will just buy a new one. At 49K for a 330i I'm really hoping that includes sales tax. That's just money you throw out the window everytime you buy something and doesn't count when you look at depreciation. Don't forget the dealership doesn't charge tax, they just collect it, so therefore they don't use the sales tax you paid as a factor when they make you an offer for your trade. I had to learn all this stuff the hard way, just look at my sig. I can tell you this though, no new car for me for a long time, I've spent a lot of money and in my mind it was worth it because I'm finally happy but I'm really don't want to waste any more money on cars for at least 5 years, and hopefully these cars will last me longer then that.
good write up.

If you live in a state that charges sales tax, when you register the car in that state, you better believe they will be collecting. Doesn't matter where you bought the car.
