fight you ticket. It'll be at least a year for them to get you a court date anyway.
Not true.... it all depends on municipality.

Toronto downtown court avg wait 11 months
Scarborough avg wait 10 months
Mississauga avg wait 3 months
Newmarket/Markham avg wait 3 months

Do you guys think it's worth taking it to trial? Just in case the cop shows up, how do you argue with speed you were recorded?
Request disclosure notes. If there is nothing in disclosure notes or on ticket mentioned of the actual speed you were pulled over, they shouldn't be able to mention it. However if it was stated in police officer's notes then yes http://www.cbc.ca/canada/ottawa/stor...ruling523.html

Should ask MODs to make a sticky on Canadian forum "Fighting Traffic Tickets", since this subject comes up every 3 months and I'm a strong believer in our constitutional right of not guilty until you had your day in court !

Some useful links for OPs that might be interested for future reference:

Just an FYI, getting points removed doesn't do shit, insurance will still see the ticket, going 10km/h over or 49km/h over, they see as the exact same thing.

Traffic Ticket

The judge is the one who decides whether to reduce the points. I recommend getting someone with expertise to handle a matter like this. I have gotten 2 speeding tickets in the past and hired Street Legal. They knew what to argue and kept me informed throughout the process. If anyone is interested try giving them a call. I believe they are located in Vaughan now. (416) 601-1500 or www.street-legal.ca

Nope. Heard these guys are chumps.

I'd rather pay my dog to speak on my behalf.

I got 2 word on tickets - X COPPER

350$ in fees got me off over 500$ in tickets and don't need to take any time out of your day to deal with BS

Unfortunately usually make a yearly donation to x copper in Markham for things I never actually did but a cop says I did (I actually wasn't speeding think he radared the car beside me)

This year it was 80 in a 50, fail to surrender licence, and disobey sign. All withdrawn due to crown unable to prove case beyond a reasonable doubt

I also had an officer pull me over right after sparking a joint while snowplowing. He made me step on a quarter of weed, gave me an obstructed licence plate and insecure load ticket. He told me if I fight the ticket and if I did he would come find me and make my life hell.

I took his threat serious and just payed the fine since these weren't moving violations and don't show up on insurance records.

Very nice officer who I feel helped me out a lot.

I would buy that cop a coffee... Dirty plate ticket beats any criminal charge... Some Police are crazy over small portions of weed... Some don't care...

Honestly I got pulled over for my val tag... I forgot to grab the new one so it was totally my fault...didnt give me a ticket... Can't complain if he did. Should of bought him a coffee too lol
