i was thinking of going to get some from BMW. i really dont want rocks to damage the side skirts over the winter..
Yup, they were added several days after buying it and stay on all year long. They are actually quite small and I don't even notice them in the summer.

I don't remember, but I think that they were less than $100 for the set of 4. They take about an hour to install as you need to remove the rear wheels.

I will get some pictures tomorrow when the sun is back out. They aren't really noticeable due to the darker color of our car, but I don't really care how it looks. Most cars in Canada have them and I don't have huge wheels are a huge drop.

I have matured and I am now fine with the BMW engineers deciding on my spring rates, suspension travel, wheel sizes. The OEM sport package with the 17s are fine for me for this car.

Here they are, mudflaps and all! BTW, it was +26 on my deck here today, +10 in the shade. I love living here.

It is a hanging pin. Makes it easier for you to mount the wheel.

BMW uses bolts for their wheels, so you basically will rest the wheel on the hub lip while you try to line up the holes and insert the bolts. Can be difficult/back breaking work sometimes, so this pin basically allows you to mount the wheel easier.

Anyone know where we can get these locally?

I got mine off the SNAP-ON truck, theirs have (Hardened Chromed) knurled ends making it easier to install and removed the pins. Also i got two for the price of one, you need two of them. Just remember to crack all the Lug bolts before lifting, lift, and remove only the top two lugs installing the pins before romoving the last three Lugs and wheel. Install reverse order. I've seen some people have bad day after not following that order.

The dealer....

You can buy all the tools they use directly from them if you want.

Got my winters on 2 weeks ago. Went with 18s because I don't like the look of 17's especially on the xI. Hope it doesn't come back and bite me in the ass .

I'm getting tints this Sunday .
