Yes sadly its the way it sits due to the M3's fenders being flared out. That extra meat would be flush with the M3's fenders.

Hence, fitment isnt perfect. I was debating which sides to go with myself. LT's M3 sides or OEM M-sport sides. I think it'll end up being the M-sports, purely for fitment purpose. Im completely anal when it comes to that, and the front of the M3 sides sticking out would drive me crazy.

As for the OP... go with a side skirt. IMO, the trunk w/o the sides completed first would look like your lacking sides. The other way around, you wont look like your lacking the trunk. If that makes sense...
