...yes it is as idiotic as the Z8 with no LSD, at least Merc didn't advertise the car as if it does have LSD.
It has a LSD.

Get the Performance Package.

getting pretty sick of the lsd talk.

It DOES come with a lsd. With the 030 package

And really guys, are you all race car drivers? Do you all need to get around your block the fastest possible.

Only about 10% of the people here track their cars.

Forums are always about paper races. Its the only way to quantitatively justify their own opinions.

As for people disagreeing with its 'monster' moniker, you must realize that it is given with context to its peers. The RS4, IS-F, and M3. Not a bad car though, the C63. Not a fan of its looks however.

Yeah, it's part of forum behaviour to compare everything by the stopwatch regardless of whether they ever spend time at a track or not. The importance of a LSD is greatly reduced if you don't track a car so why do they place such importance when the majority neither get the chance to use it.

That's why I value fun-to-drive over outright speed and lap times that might be 1-2 secs quicker.

I'd rather have a car that's more fun to drive than one that gets me through the 1/4 a half second quicker.

If I lived in FL I'd definitely rock an AMG, way more appropriate for the long straight roads

Hell, if you know where you're living there's tons of isolated curvy roads too. Tons of drift spots too.

Unless you are north of forty I would say the XF isn't for you. It's a totally different driving experience to a German car of similar size.

I don't drive anything for very long and though I am looking forward to the new 5series when it comes I will probably miss this car more than I ever missed the M3.

What a statement.........................man I must be getting old.

There is no doubt on looking alone it's one of the best in it's sector, but though it's a more modern take on past Jags it's still old school in it's approach compared to the ultra modern German brands. But things that make it so appealing and I will undoubtable miss when it goes are the little things the XF does for you, like turn on both heated windows f & r when it's cold and then turn them off when clear, the auto lights setup which offers two additional settings of delay so they only come on when needed properly and not when you go under a flyover. Then there is the seat base which lengthens in it's entirity and not just the little section at the front. Also, though the vents are a gimmick they are one gimmick that bring a smile to my face every time I start the engine, just like the gear selector that raises and drops. Another sensible feature is the auto closure system which close the wing mirrors and give that visual indicator that stops the question of 'is it or isn't it locked?' that is so common with these setups.

If you can get past the old school image and very British interior then it's one car that you will grow to love more with each journey but it's still a different experience than you would be use to and won't be for everyone.

I dont understand why some folks on this board are obsessed about sport car/sedan with LSD. In a real world/street situation, it would not make much of a difference. Look at the 996/997 911/911S, they dont have LSD and they still performed great. Unless you mostly use the car for track, the LSD would be beneficial.

You guys must never drive your cars very hard, because even in some light spirited driving around town it would get really old having 1wd in a car that can break traction as easily as that. An LSD is never *not* beneficial in any car. Pretty silly it doesn't come standard on a car like that.

At least its a factory option for that AMG, Porsche dont even offer that for their 911. Plus with these new systems of traction control and ESP, the car would never break traction with 1wd (like an E diff term speaking).

Porsche did (and does again) offer a LSD. The GT3 has one. If you checked the right option box on the 993s and 996s you could get one. Then PASM pretty much took over the option, but now Porsche is offering a LSD once again.

Lift throttle oversteer is a bit better controlled with a LSD on the 911s, as both wheels get power.

Correct, LSD can help rein in lift-off oversteer but it's basic requirement on the road is very limited unless you intend to prick the attentions of the law.

I test drove the 10 m3 sedan and I would not buy the c63 over it even if it has more power.
