You get 10 years - 120K miles extended warranty on the pump.

The Service Director at Bevery Hills BMW told me even after the warranty expires, BMW should be take care of any problems.

I understand marketing and budgeting, etc... but BMW still using the old pump just because it is in stock is silly KNOWING they still have high failure rates. All old pumps should be sent in and replaced with new pumps ASAP unless there is a shortage or backorder. I had my HFPF replaced back around spring 2009 so I assume it is just a matter of time before it fails again. I just hope all old pumps are cycled out and I get a new pump (then again, assuming it really is a permanent fix!).

No you have about 105,000 miles. Remember there is a 120,000 mile extended warranty on the pumps.

Tischer shipped the 943 pump yesterday. I should be able to post some initial pictures Friday with hopefully more pictures Saturday for the swap.

My car build is 04/08 and I have never had a pump replaced so I should have pump #13537537320. Pump #13517592881 was installed after 07/08.

30k miles and the car has never been to the dealer....no issues (other than a long crank) and I perform my own maintenance.

there will be an update to the current extension to the "extended warranty parameters" which will include the 09 MY also -- so stay tuned to your SIB in the 13 group for that upcoming release

as for improvement to the pump itself .. that will remain to be seen, but there has been some enhancements to the software to address the long crank complaint, and provide better diagnostic capabilities (test routines)

this is a big one for BMW -- and a lot of people have lost a lot of sleep over it.. i can guarantee you that

We knew about the new part number a long time ago! Are you saying that FINALLY, this part number shows up as an updated part and that they should be ordering/installing these for replacement work orders?

If that is the case, then I need to raise hell at my local dealership. I got my fuel pump replaced with the old part number just a week ago and they told me that that was the latest part number available!

Wow they still have not designed a new pump since 07' that will work? I hope this new one is the ticket

At least you have 120k miles to wait for one that will not fail.

My car almost did not start at all this morning.
Getting pump replaced for the 3rd time tomorrow, just called my dealer in San Diego and they still have the 881 and not the new part number...
He said no one on the west coast has it yet...

This sucks... This will be the 4th pump this car has seen in 32K miles...
I swear the original one was better than the 881 and lasted longer than the last two 881's

Just got my HPFP replaced a few days ago, and it WAS still the old part # ending in 881....I also made sure my SA knew about the new HPFP part # as I showed him the post. He said he'll check with his tech and see if that's the new one, but based on the part # listed on my service record, it states the old one, so I doubt it.......

WTF is up with that? Maybe the new HPFP hasn't arrived at my local dealership yet? Is that a possibility? IDK.......

p.s. Sometimes it feels like people on this forum knows more about our cars than the people that SHOULD.......

part is real

the part is real --

but it looks like no dealers have them "in stock" --
they may have to deplete the current stock of old pumps on their shelves --

but there are pumps sitting in the regional PDC's on East and
West Coasts..

quite a few more on the West Coast ...

but NOT on the dealer shelves as available ...

possibly on a special order basis -- maybe?
